Disrupting a public meeting so others cannot have the conversations they came there for is not "drawing attention to the dangers of geothermal" it is a self serving, self aggrandizing attempt to keep others from presenting their ideas and being heard. This is what a small child does when they don't get their way. If RJ wants to control the conversation she should schedule her own meeting, invite the public and see who shows up, not take over someone else's meeting by making a spectacle of herself.

Shockwave, I think her intention was to get media coverage/attention to the dangers of geothermal heavy industry in a highly inappropriate unstable setting, which she has done successfully. There will be another meeting thankfully.

007. Get a clue. Dominating a public forum and screaming long enough to get it cancelled is disrespectful. This loon needs to be put out of our misery.

So people who took time out of their lives to attend the first meeting now will have to do so again because RJ doesn't understand how to behave in group settings? Not acceptable in a civil society.

It's old school protest/get arrested/get media attention strategy. Can be very successful however I understand it was very frustrating for those who had prepared to speak at the meeting. Unfortunately the health department has been stunted by government/big business collaboration and the people affected are resorting to drastic measures...again.

A professor at UH Hilo explained to me that a great deal of money including federal has been allocated to this project. But it's a project that will die out at the end of the vine once everyone involved has rec'd their share. In other words, it's highly caustic, located in an area where peoples civil rights are being violated and will continually wind up in court and not be cost effective in the long run. Most everyone in the business knows that but continue to go after that money knowing it will be fruitless. Corruption at it's finest.

There seems to be some question about the difference between a rock and magma. I must ask, would you prefer being caught between a rock and a hard spot, or between magma and a hard spot. I think you will definitely feel the difference.

My friend just sent me an excellent link to help further us in our UNDERSTANDING. This is his reasoning. Mahalo Mitch. [8D] Let's all check it out.

There are differences in the composition of the materials (difference between "rock" as commonly defined and understood and mineral emulsions contained within the magma) that could be relevant to where and what they can drill.

Hence as crystallization goes on the residual melt must contain an ever-increasing proportion of volatile constituents. It is conceivable that in the final stages the still uncrystallized part of the magma has more resemblance to a solution of mineral matter in superheated steam than to a dry igneous fusion. see below for source:

RJ successfully diverted this thread from a discussion of her selfish and disrespectful actions at a community meeting to quibbling over the difference between rock and magma. The rest of you are either enablers or you got played.

Can we stick to the topic: disruption of the meeting leading to the arrest of RJ?

OMG!
I have read posts like, ignore her cause she is toothless!
Ignore her cause she chose the way of civil disobedience to get attention about Geothermal.
She is bipolar, schizo, etc.
I give her credit for her passion. And this is Puna.
I might not agree with the tactics, but that has been the way, where change for the positive has been effected everywhere.
So what have you attacking whiners done to improve Puna??
Be kind, help her get her teeth, if it bothers you too much.
I have seen sparkling teeth behind a fake, as well as seen a toothless person making more sense than the president.
I would like to read posts about you, the complainers, about what YOU have done to try and improve our living in this piece of paradise.
I find attacking the messenger for personal physical imperfections to be elitist.

Not elitist just descriptive. You can protest on your own time and on your own dime.
