I was wondering who pressed charges, RJ, and was there any talk of making the charges enhanced because of the emergency proclamation. It seems to me someone connected to the school would have the best reason to press charges if PGV didn't. When the police arrived they certainly didn't take any time to appraise the situation.

The enhanced charges in an emergency only apply to certain criminal acts. I'd be shocked if they applied to Hampton's act, no matter how inconsiderate it was.

Anyone happen to know if and when another geothermal community meeting will take place?
Sure would like to make the next meeting for they sound like their gaining some steam. About 9 months ago I was able to attend such a meeting, the food was awesome like I was at a buffet. Only 10-12 people attended the meeting so it went quickly, unfortunately the food sat out with no one eating it. Have a sneaky feeling the next meetings buffet may be replaced or eaten by officers in uniform. RJ thank you, your actions speak volumes louder than your words. You have given some hope when facing Goliath.

What hope Gypsy? Hope that the rule of law still exists in Pahoa? Hope that Ormat will keep offering these meetings in spite of all the BS? Hope that the merry go round of having the county buy your house from you at 130% value and then buying it back at auction will continue?

Oh wait, I get it - Hope that RJ will do something useful and blockade the PGV entrance so the new drilling rig cannot get through?!

I think there is another meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6:30, same location. I checked Act 111, Tom, and in this case it is fairly specific that these enhanced charges apply to burglary, theft, and assault of emergency personnel, which could have come into play if RJ resisted. When I saw the article explaining the enhanced charges I was not sure whether those were examples or the whole picture. Since it seems that this will be the law that rules Puna for awhile we need to understand its ramifications. I am actually surprised there is no language concerning disturbing the peace since this law applies to civil unrest also. Hopefully this meeting and subsequent meetings will remain civil in Puna because as long as this emergency situation is declared all meetings are at the discretion of the Mayor. We don't want to give him a reason to not allow our freedom of assembly just because he can. The specific language is the mayor may exercise the following powers pertaining to emergency management (12) restrict the congregation of the public in stricken or dangerous areas or under dangerous conditions.

Are you saying there is another PGV meeting scheduled for this Thursday evening at Pahoa High Cafeteria? Is there no Community Lava Update meeting this week?

At the Jan. 8 lava meeting they said that the meetings would no longer be weekly unless conditions changed. I have only heard about the Thurs. PGV meeting from one usually reliable source but I am surprised that some other sources have not announced it to my knowledge.
