Hawaiian acres roads/community association
About 2 years ago, maybe 3 now,a member of the HARC board was really drunk and creamed another resident on road 8 and C after a meeting of their board of directors we have been told.
Since it is hear say , can not know for sure. But the residents are lot owners and have been for more than 30 years and are now severely disabled due to the negligence of a drunkard HARC board member.
Again just hear say but we do know personally these long time residents .
There should be NO alcohol or drugs allowed on HACA property in our opinion.

mrs mimosa - drugs and and the public consumption of alcohol are illegal everywhere so i do not see your point. they are no more allowed at the community center than they are anywhere else.

What on earth makes you think i know anything about the communities finances? just-not-the-truth has her own agenda and i am just trying to inject a little reason into this.

i have lived on this island for twenty years. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A DISCARDED NEEDLE. not only that but i have many years professional experience dealing directly with such addictions and what you describe is not the behavior of most addicts. I have NEVER known an addict inject themselves as they walk down a street. what is a possible explanation is that you have a DEALER living near you, i can imagine a scenario where, having just 'picked up', and being so secluded, there are a number that would use immediately.

please put your financial concerns in writing to HACA/HARC (whatever). either mail or deliver to the office. people there will look into your concerns and answer your queries.

with regards to the explanation for the needles - it might be worthwhile talking to the local police. they may well already have investigations on hard drug dealers that your findings could help with.

Your friendly local Community Service Officer can be found at the monthly Community Watch meeting. I'm sure he would be very interested to hear about the drug epidemic.

the public consumption of alcohol are illegal everywhere

The "public-ness" of private subdivision roads is not well-tested in court -- not defending drug use or DUI, merely pointing out that "the public" does not automatically have standing. County could "solve" this by adopting all these roads, but that's another pointless discussion for a different waste of time.

HACA meeting last night went on for 3 + hours . i think ( lost count ) there are about 13 board members . did not seem like anything was accomplished, the president was by skype and she had little to no involvement . vice president was there but did not chair the meeting the secretary chaired the meeting . the whole meeting seemed an endless entanglement of motions upon motions that made very little sense.

That's just the new board settling in. They'll get around to the money and stuff later.

If you've never seen drug paraphernalia in 20 years in Hawaii you must live a very sheltered existence.

There are discarded needles found in all the Hilo beach parks on a regular basis, I've done beach cleanups at 4-mile where almost all we found was the little plastic discs that are left behind when beer bottle caps rust away, plastic drug baggies, and discarded needles. Go down there any time and you will see the ground just littered with little drug baggies. Junkies will get rid of their paraphernalia as soon as they can to avoid getting caught with it.

i was disappointed i had hope that they would have been more concerned about getting the permits for the building rather then the emphasis being placeed on opening the farmers market it is the cart before the horse. dont think they understand the seriousness of the situation . no permit no operational building. closed for business it has to be done by september

more concerned about getting the permits

Because permits are always the highest priority, even more important than roads.

well the building is the main focus. the building is much needed for the community. also if i remember correctly there is something about the building being owned by a trust and if HACA shuts down it goes back to the trust . so i would think that having the building legal is very important imagine if the trust finds out about the legal problems that are on going as well as the fact that the permits are expired .. not good
