Yes indeed welcome Barry you are much needed breath of fresh air. I agree with justthefacts, Welcome welcome. Driving home from work today I was just struck by how beautiful the acres is. Dry but beautiful. The roads are nicer now than they ever were without any rivers running down them. Do wish it would rain though. Wonder if a rain-dance would work? What about a mass raindance filled with members of the community held at the community center?

Manners manners and all that.
Yes we walk many miles a day in HA,yes we pick up every ones garbage and teaching the grandchildren about community and also the endemic plants along our walks ,that contain a wide assortment of medicinal properties for all animals ailments .
This includes humans .
We find it very disheartening all the hate that abounds in this thread towards women .
You males need to show some restraint and be gentlemen when it comes to others that do not share you same point of view.
Please, for the sake of the children and grand children , can all of you please be more polite.

Mrs. Mimosa: I am looking over this thread and trying to find any hate that is directed toward women-kind in any of these postings and cannot find any. I believe you are incorrect, deluded or misinformed. I see some accusations that, albeit may be harsh, are directed toward individuals. If some of those individuals involved are women then c'est la vie. They are involved. However the way you word it, you try to make it seem that there are comments stemmed from hatred toward women. Love women because without them there can be no man. That sounds like a good topic for a different thread though.

This whole thread seems like a twisted comedic soap-opera.

Even the best of use can succumb to troll like behavior, a badly worded or ill intended post at the end of a long day can set almost anyone off, but there are those who always seem to push every button they can find. Subdivision threads seem to bring out the worst in everyone, no matter the subdivision or issue.

Edited to add: I use email to communicate in a professional capacity with people all over the world, many are not American English speakers as their first language. I am constantly dealing with examples of how easily misunderstandings happen, even with people who are trying to be professional and get good work done, so the lack of clear communication in a wide open internet forum should be no surprise.

barry, with you I did assume the best and ask questions , I read you like to use sarcasm but that is another form of hostility. the post on retiring to the "upscale digs" almost seems as though there is an issue with my house, we worked for it. I started this thread about Hawaiian acres to bring conversation about current and relevant issues that are on going in the subdivision , about the roads, and community center about the boards of both organizations HACA and HARC . to provide information about the on going lawsuit and to continue an open discussion about the subdivision. I will continue to put forth information as I obtain it and do my best to report clear and accurate information , I intend to let the entire membership of HACA know that this forum exists , so property owners can read and decide for themselves on the issues happening in Hawaiian acres.

With the rains soon coming again,we prepped the elevated gardens today.Mixed a years supply of compost into the already loamy soils .
Added black cinders and started the veggie starts .
We are teaching the grand kids how to be self sufficient and not rely on the KTAs and Safeways of the world, for our nutrition.
We picked citrus and made 3 gallons of fresh juice and made zest of the lemons, grapefruit and oranges for later in the year when no more citrus in the orchards. We freeze the zest in the citrus juice in ice cube trays in our solar/propane chest freezer.
We also killed one of the roosters today and had him for dinner, teaching the grand children about keeping excellent nutrition and all grown at home.
One of these days soon,it will be their job to feed their own families when we are no longer here.
That was our family day here in H.A.

dear mimosa,,,,, your day sounds exactly like the kind of days my wife and I for many years so desperately needed ,,,, fun , educational and dare I say it self sustaining ,,,,,,, with a extra truck load of family and camaraderie thrown in . this was one of the deciding factors in our decision to buy property in Hawaiian acres. my wife has an old family friend here in the acres and has been active in the neighborhood and im sure knows everyone here ,,,,,,,, when driving us around looking at many lots I was so pleased to see so many folks wave,,,,,, stop and talk stories ,,,,,,,,,,, and they were always pleasant and friendly to us ,,,,,,,, even as we were strangers to them. after all of the negative and even scary issues at the doj we knew we had to move to the smaller office here in hilo when the opportunity became available and we believe we made the right decision and the best possible time . good people are the backbone of any community that hopes for better times ahead for children and grandchildren and we are convinced that the majority of the folks here fall into this group . we would very much love to meet you as well as many others and be part of an overall family of neighbors and residents working and playing together .....................................................,,,, oh no my period tree is beginning to fruit as well as my comma trees,............ looks like a bumper crop already on our journey towards our own little part of the green acres. anyone remember that sitcom ? I loved Mr. Haney and my wife chose of course Mrs. Gabor ,,,beautiful woman that one poise and grace in every step.......................... but I digress ,,,,,,,,,, back to today , we are glad we are here , ad we are happy that you and so may other folks are here as well ,,,,,,, aloha

Barry - When we go on our walks around the acres,we take the grand kids.We collect endemic plants to utilize in our daily lives, teaching the grand kids all their uses, when people bulldoze, they destroy small eco systems of many many rare and useful plants .
Today not only did we replant what we collected but used some in our salad and there is a rare fern that induces sleep, restful sleep .
along with happy dreams. It is only 3 inches tall and grows in rocky area's.
One would just never see this rare endemic fern but when we peer into our land,we see many useful plants and the animals that need these plants to thrive.
We are teaching the grand children our years of knowledge so they do not need to buy medicines in a box or bottle from Longs/CVS or even targets or walmarts.
The outcome of these simple by example is that the grand children will be excellent citizens of the universe and continue onto Stanford or MIT and return home to create new life and thrive well, giving back to our progressive community .
Only a year ago we got a TV,it has been many decades since we have that idiot box in the house.
We have been here since the early 1960s and are well educated and world traveled .

we have looked over our postings and I cant see where you could have even remotely gotten the idea that my jest about BILLY GOAT GRUFF , could be construed to be a slam on you and your wife's house,,,,,,,, we don't know you and we probably wont considering your tone and caustic remarks. we must be clear here,,,,,,,,,,,,,, my reference was to a childhood story of goats that outsmarted the trolls that lived under the bridge and demanded troll tolls from the users of the bridge ,,,,,,,,,,, that having been pointed out,,,,, unless you and your wife are living under a bridge here in the acres ,,,,, then my humorous response was not intended to offend you personally and we are scared you read way to much into the area between the lines. I must take a moment to also point out that sarcasm is NOT a form of hostility and that the online dictionary is free and available for you to use at ay time ,,,,,,, PLEASE do read up on the word sarcasm.

I did point out that your posts are consistently negative and often without basis in fact or truth ,, please don't drag that rubbish into what the rest of us are trying to accomplish . IF YOU MUST ,, post your thoughts and opinions here than as I asked you and your wife before ,, please make us laugh instead of cry . aloha

oh and I forgot to mention that although sometimes I miss the mark on grammar ,,spelling ,, ,,,,,,,,,,,punctuation and the liberal use of the comma ,,,,,,, all of you good folks please bear with us and look for the humor and levity I use,,,,, try not to get bogged down in the nonexistent between the lines trash some are so famous for .
