i planted this some time ago and have a nice little patch. never tried to eat it, just know it is there if times ever get desperate. lots of stuff in the ground if the time ever comes and i wouldn't think food thieves would even recognize it as edible.

I planted a lot on my property for animal fodder and emergency food. I can't say that I like the taste or texture but my geese love it. The geese have stripped most areas bare and even eaten the roots. It does spread via seeds as I find seedlings all over my property.

Mine does look a bit different than the one in the link as my seed pods are all green with no red.Flowers look identical.
