I've been considering using those electronic versions to quit. Using them to start is sort of strange IMO.

Drinking is 21, why not cigarettes too? Makes sense that way. It would be better if they raised the age to 60 for doing any of it.

I often see the argument "but you can die for your country at 18 so it's not fair".
Fine -- allow under-21 sales to those who enlist in the military.

I don't understand why an adult 18-21 years of age has fewer legal rights than one 21 or older. If the aim is to prevent smoking, then make it illegal for everyone.
The argument for making alcohol illegal under the age of 21 was that there was allegedly statistics showing that drivers under 21 were causing a disproportionate amount of alcohol-related fatalities. Raising the drinking age was supposedly to benefit safety for everybody. But people smoking or "vaping" aren't effecting my safety.

Current "vape juice" is completely unregulated, so there could be health (translates to: economic) impact. Clever position for the industry, less clear what the longer-term side effects will be.

"But people smoking or "vaping" aren't effecting my safety.",
It's kind of like breathing their farts; but with a chemical residue. On the other hand, who can argue against marketing that's designed to turn impressionable teenagers into hopeless nicotine addicts. |
