the police were called, a report was made . what is being done by police ???
the best recommendation for theft protection is a fenced yard and a good guard dog . this type of bad activity is happening way to often. the jail is full of people that are doing this but the problem is the jail is just a revolving door for the offenders they rack up multiple offenses with in and out of the jail and justice system.

"the best recommendation for theft protection is a fenced yard and a good guard dog"

Your barking dog doesn't do anything but make noise.I can drive a truck through your fence and shoot your dog.

Good neighbors and a good neighborhood watch program is much more effective !!

Of course you need a residential neighborhood with paved streets and people who keep the junk trees from growing out into the streets!

Usually the neighbors are the perps.... good cameras and alarm systems nailed my local (section 8 subsidised) burglar - photo with a time stamp handed over to the P.D. and neighborhood watch

...shoot my dog? ..... That action may earn "a week in my garage"

It is too bad Chief Kubojiri is such a lousy police chief. Zero effort on preventing crime. Close to zero on catching burglars.

The guy is a failure... but he collects his check and inches his way toward a cozy retirement.
Assume the best and ask questions.

well obie , i would think that after the noise of plowing thru the fence and shooting the dog it would bring some law enforcement and i would also suspect it would cause significant damage to the vehicle making it hard for a quick escape . the dog shooting could involve the humane society and an extra charge , besides the criminal property damage along with the breaking and entering , so it is at the very least a good idea to have a fence, and a guard dog sorta does slow down the robber . make the person reconsider robbing you , pick an easier target.
yes rob agree if the cops had good leadership it would be very helpful for a stronger police force.

Dog goes in the house not in the yard. That way he barks like a banshee to let them know the house is occupado.
