Unbelievable petition introduced in Hawaii
#1

This person is collecting signatures to introduce a bill to ban motorcycles and scooters from all of Hawaii. He is upset with loud exhausts. Certainly there are bikers that replace the stock exhaust systems with louder ones. I am not one of those. I don't care for loud exhaust systems as a rider. But, this is not the answer. I can't imagine this will become a law. If this becomes law, I will be selling my two houses and moving to another state. The person is Jonathan Graham. Here is the web site:

i could live without the loud exhausts. i have had severe disruptions numerous times.

i would also like to ban loud whistling. not the kind you do with just your lips, but the kind where you have to use your fingers, and can be heard from at least a half mile away. that type of whistling in public should be a felony offense.

Why in the world would birdmove advertise a petition he/she is against?
Assume the best and ask questions.

And balls. We should ban balls that land in my yard. Frissbees too.

Seems like an easy fix. Measure the decibels at a given distance. Tinted windows have their translucence measured during a safety check. Customized window test, customized exhaust test.

Noise from excessively loud vehicles is destroying the quality of life in residential Honolulu. ... The Honolulu Police also do absolutely NOTHING to control the noise.

In other words, life in Puna will remain unchanged whether or not this becomes law.

Not because I wanted to advertise for it. More because I was dumbfounded that someone would try to get a bill like this up for a vote. As I stated, I am not for replacing the stock exhaust with louder systems. In fact, I remember like 25-30 years ago reading that the federal government was going to outlaw aftermarket exhaust systems period. Don't know what happened, but it is still very much legal to replace your stock systems.

There are things that I don't care for too, but I would not consider inflicting my standards on everyone else by trying to get those things outlawed. If someone tried to do this in Washington State or Califoria, they would probably need to hire a bodyguard.

I fully expect to see this attempt vanish. Earlier today, there was maybe 100 signatures.

I propose we ban all airplanes (and maybe outdoor concerts?) from the islands! they make more noise than a motorbike... and its fun to take a boat for a week and a half to SF... like in 1888

dumb nonsense stuff always makes the news.... doesnt mean it will happen... its entertainment

How about signing my petition to ban hurricanes or allowing liquid lava to flow across private property?
