I'm glad the dry spell is over. Now if only somebody would do something about this heat wave...

Jon,

Pam and I were in Portland a few weeks ago and the temperatures were in the 90s. I thought it was supposed to be relatively cool there in June!

Hmm do something about the heat... pray to god or mother nature? These guys are getting a good start at it;

I like the baby hippo and the Basset hound the best.

Hot and humid here. I have so much to do but my body keeps insisting I breathe Wink. Which means lying down, in front of a fan!

!!!

A short bike ride away from my Courtenay house. Nothing like that near the cottage in Mountain View, but any Hilo beach will do =) How do you know about it? Even most who grew up here don't know that secret.

Possible tropical storm development near Hawaii the next couple of weeks;
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/pr.../ghazards/

Not expecting anything major but a glancing blow from a tropical depression or storm is probably likely for the Big Island in about a week. Probably will get the remains of a tropical storm here around July 8th;

As the waters warm the Hurricane/Tropical storm season will peak here in Aug./Sept.

We do have much above normal SST especially near Hilo;
https://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/hawaii.html

Hurricane's need 27 degree C or higher water and we're not quite there yet;

More detailed info here;

Not too worrisome at this point but something to keep an eye on.
