It's not about the raw sewage. The sewage is just a platform.

It's not about the raw sewage.
Well, something doesn't smell right.

HOTPE - do you write for Civil Beat in your spare time? []
http://www.civilbeat.com/2015/08/the-pro...adows-all/ "BikeShare Hawaii showed off options for bringing two-wheelers to the masses. Hot-button energy issues were the focus of a high-profile conference. And the Supreme Court held a TMT hearing. But what the world knew about the islands this week was that a sewage spill closed Waikiki beaches."

What do rockets and the TMT have in common?
Outer space. They are both used for exploring outer space. So what is to prevent rocket engines somehow connected to the outer space researching, city vaporizing, sewage filled TMT from dropping through the roofs of Big Island residents? Nothing. Well, I suspect that puts paid to the TMT's plans to launch their sewage into space from the MK satellite launch site...

There was another raw sewage spill not long after this one. They were mostly due to the city sewer system not able to handle the small storm surges that were spun off the hurricanes. Notice how nobody is daring to say a word. It is just a big reminder that Honolulu has massive problems, knowing tourism is the number one source of income, then this inadequate infrastructure pops up. The imaginary problems on Hawaii island are so insignificant to the major problems on Oahu, especially if this does turn into an El Nino year.

just a big reminder that Honolulu has massive problems ... inadequate infrastructure
Well, if we can just keep TMT from being built, all those problems will take care of themselves.

Oahu- almost a million people stuffed into about 600 square miles more or less.
Maybe something can be learned from Singapore? Oops, Singapore gets much of its water and food by importation too, but it has a real economy. Think cesspools and septic here don't quite bother me so much. Yeah, stopping TMT will fix all our problems, stop us from taking advantage of a clean scientific resource too. What a wonderful future we can all envision! I think if we by default remain dependent on tourism, we need casinos to extract more money from tourists. A practical economic solution methinks.[] (edited for wink)

We can just keep gambling on the unimproved roads. "Guess the repair bill, win a free set of tires!"

Don't we have pilot programs in Hawaiian Acres and Fern Forest? Except it was for not just tires but suspension systems too. At least it's helpful for Lex Brodie et. al. (Sarcasm alert). Just not many tourists in HA or FF. |
