I volunteer to go to Mars. Our summer was unbearably hot and so is the beginning of our autumn.

It gets really really really f---ing cold in interstellar

As long as you're going through the expense of building a warp drive with adequate crew quarters for the long haul, there's no sense in skimping on the ambient comfort level. I'll keep an eye out for that radioisotope thermoelectric generator, or two (redundancy), because I'd definitely prefer the thermostat gets set at "Pahoa" or "Kapoho" rather than "Glenwood."

There is a theory that interstellar travel may be similar to the the journeys taken by the Polynesian voyaging canoes:

The 24 major island groups of the Pacific Ocean were settled by early Austronesians between 3,500 and 900 years ago, but little is known about how these isolated islands were colonized. Now, researchers have used epidemiological modeling to devise some compelling new ideas about how it was done.

(This method of colonizing the Pacific) could conceivably (be) used to estimate how extraterrestrial intelligences might colonize the galaxy; instead of islands, astrobiologists could chart how colonization waves move between stars. Interestingly, one of the key findings of the Bell paper is that distance didn’t matter in the founding of early Pacific societies.

So if we terrestrials set out from Puna to explore to galaxy, it might be a good idea to add a few Polynesian navigators to the crew.

No need to search for them. Just hang around the ufo landing pad down Kalapana way, eh?

Great idea pulling one from a planetary rover. I hadn't thought of that angle but stripping cars in alleys is not in my background.

Now I need a space suit rated to 5 deg kelvin. Not like you can buy those things at walmart. The Europa driller/rover should have a decent one if its out crawling by then. Nice low gravity should make dragging the thing off a piece of cake.

Look. Its like this. I'm sick and tired of waiting for the fleet and Mother ship, see? If they can't find me, I'll find them.

LMAO! imagtek, check out Ebay. [Wink]

Hope you don't have to go too far for the "Mother Ship". Fuel may get expensive. Or worse, you end up lost in space! [:0]

Or, you could end up famous! Like, really famous, kinda like "Uncle Martin" famous:

Hey, the UH might give you a grant! Hmmm....you just might be onto something.

Look, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but the building to the right in:

https://www.cfa.harvard.edu/sma/PICS4PUB...000397.JPG

is where we keep the wreckage of shot down UFOs. There ought to be several spare parts there, but it might be tough to get past security and the laser beams. Suggest you write to the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory requesting a tour of the SMA. But don't tell them I told you so.

Well, knock me over with a feather...Sir.

PS. Just watch out for the reverse-engineered parts. I believe they are "as is", i.e., no warranties.
