Who is protecting who? So much for the "Protectors" ... I guess things are getting a bit out of hand on top of the mountain.

Right now it's peaceful. Not a lot going on other than the observatories making discoveries and the tourists going up to watch the sunset. The "protectors" and DLNR will soon change that once again though. Just a matter of time.

Has anyone ever known DLNR to be effective at protecting anything?
Assume the best and ask questions.

I'm not aware of anything. How about asking the BLNR?
No, I'm not being serious.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance here, but when the protesters were arrested, many of the officers appeared to be DLNR officers. Before this happened, I had no idea there was such a thing as a DLNR law enforcement officer.
What do they do when nothing much is going on that affects the land and natural resources?
Spent a little time in Hilo airport yesterday and wondered the same thing about all the airport police there, plus the TSA employees. Most seemed to be chatting to their friends or going off on breaks. Not that they might be doing a fine job, but why do we have so many TSA people who sit there telling everyone to use the other X-ray machine?
Oh Tom, We are in/at the airport quite often ... The stories I could tell.
Big World / Small town. Maybe they all grouped up and stay talking about Punaweb latest.
I always try and picture it as a bad guy looking how / what he would do to pass security in some movie ... Because I know I could do it in real life ..
FBI / CIA / TSA and anyone else welcome to contact me about my observations ... Happy to discuss.
aloha,
you know how to reach me,

Was at LAX today waiting for the hotel shuttle. I witnessed a police officer help an old lady with her bags. As he was passing me, he noticed one of those carts slowly getting loose and politely told the lady to wait and he ran out into the road to retrieve the cart. He then went on to accompany this old lady up an escalator so she could get her ticket.
I hoped he'd come by later just so I could say thank you.
Meanwhile, at ITO, we have old police officers who are beyond the security lane and do nothing other than chat amongst themselves while the multitude of TSA security staff keep disappearing. They outnumber the passengers at most times, for crying out loud.
Just spent money and time getting TSA pre access and when I got to ITO pre lane it was closed. Thanks. There were about a dozen TSA people just sitting there doing F* all.

They have to try harder because they're called LAX Security.
There are new restrictions on TSA Pre, the people who paid for Global Access were complaining that the lines were getting too long.

How did DLNR get turned into TSA? Serious lapse of logic continuity with some people.
