Sorry Dave, knowing how things work here I don't think the Ilima will be ready for about a year! SmileSmileSmile (It will be on 14th Street, just off Makuu Drive in HPP.)

Thanks, John. We are looking into the Topsider at the moment. They sure seem hurricane resistant. The house stile would also not be out of line since our only neighbour has a house circular structures at the ends of his house. We will not be able to build our own house, so Topsider seems like an alternative to us, but we are still in the planning stages. We have to wait til our first granddaughter is born before we get really serious.

I can highly recommend Piersons! Deal with Kathy if she is there - that girl is on it - helps she is Mary's daughter so can jump hoops some of the other employees cant!

966-7458

And no I dont work for them - but I did call 3 yards for a 100 pc order of studs (we ran short but too much for pickup truck) and no one else could del for a week... Kathy heard our problem and got her truck out there that afternoon! (and studs $.06 cheaper than anywhere else at that time.)

I will stick where the service is if price comparable - to have 4 carpenters standing around is about $80-110 an hour... do the math!

I'll second that Piersons tries to accomodate you as much as they can. Like Argus. Both nice to deal with. It seems like both of their employes are happier than the employees of the 'biggies' on the island.

This is the HPM house package my parents bought
and built in Discovery Harbour. It really turned out to be a really nice house

Thanks tons to HADave for retrieving this thread for the rest of us.

Aaron, the model your folks built in Discovery Harbour has a carport, which doesn't fit with the CC&Rs. Did they modify the plans to suit that? Can you share any pictures?

As far as I've seen what my parents did, they
enclosed the garage and spun the front. If
you e-mail me privately I can send you pictures
of my parents house.

So, let's say you have a $250,000 lot, and you buy a $60,000 manufactured home (from HPM for example). Any idea on earth how much the extra expenditures would be: cesspool or septic, etc......assume County water in place.

Glen, not sure there is a clear cut answer to your question. First , I'd say those extra costs have little to do with the price of the lot, unless that lot included some improvements. Do you nee a driveway? 50ft, 500ft? What is your topograghy? Drainage concerns? Overgrown with dense vegetation or baren lava? Septics can cost more than cesspools, but first do you have a choice? Again the cost will reflect work to install.
Not sure I given you much helpful info, but perhaps my post triggered some questions for you to investigate.

Good luck and keep asking.
