Dengue state of emergency

Any one have thoughts on how dengue has repeated gone away, apparently on it's own? Unless someone really thinks everyone in all affected areas completely rid their properties and those surrounding them of all stagnant water.

Was it the drought?

I would think the dry weather was our greatest ally in the fight against dengue. I can't remember such a long period of time with so few mosquitoes.

Wonder if the other outbreak cessations correlated with droughts. And if it is the relative presence/absence of droughts that makes the difference in mosquito-bourne illnesses becoming endemic or not...

Some specific areas had to wait 2 - 3 momths after the last reported case to be reopened so we probably have several more weeks before a declaration of the end of hostilities.

Which brings up the point... Why was Harry Kim, as a highly paid managing director of Civil Defense, allowed to have overtime pay? Wasn't he a salaried manager? Why would any county director be allowed overtime pay? It sure doesn't happen in the private sector.

Perhaps it would work in Hawaiian counties with limited resources and health department personnel? The system is communication based, so it may also work for containing the zika virus as well.

Analyzing patterns of calls in Pakistan's Punjab region, the researchers forecast suspected dengue cases up to two weeks ahead of time with block-by-block accuracy, the researchers said in a study published in the journal Science Advances.

The low-cost statistical method to track dengue is particularly adapted for nations lacking the resources to effectively monitor the spread of diseases, said the scientists from the United States, Pakistan and United Arab Emirates.
