Pahoa EBT @ Island Naturals
#1
Does anyone know why Island Naturals has been without EBT service for about a week?

Well - it is the end of the month and all the unwashed masses are out of their EBT by now .
Now just cash sales.I am sure R.R. will have it fixed by the 1st when a new load of EBT is given to the unwashed masses .

My last visit was May 2nd + they still can't honor EBT. The week before they posted a sign hoping for resolution, guessing 7-10 days. Yet upon my last visit, they said they could not get a timeline from the "processors" -- ?
Gee, they updated those machines several times in the past 2 years -- had to keep up w/ the chipped credit cards as other vendors.
All seems very strange to me since no other stores have this problem in Pahoa. I presume Russell's other stores (like Hilo) don't have a problem???

I'm wondering what Mimosa and Kapoho Joe mean by "unwashed masses." Perhaps they are referring (unkindly)to poor folks?

Is it some sort of law that they must Honor EBT? There are other places that accept EBT I am sure....

Unwashed = HBO.... Not the kind you watch on TV....

There is/was a sign up at bulk food section saying something to the effect that eating out of the bins without paying was out of control, and the EBT stopped at the same time. I do not know if there is a connection, but the margins in groceries are notoriously low, it only takes a few freeloaders to ruin it for everyone.

Still down as of this morning and possibly much longer according to staff there.
