There is also a way to straighten the roundabout.
Of course with the low horsepower, high mileage, and bad suspension on Puna vehicles, they won't jump over, they'll crawl their way into the center of the roundabout, just far enough to wind up as a decorative, tilting, centerpiece. But at least they'll be off the roadway, so I'd give them more credit for effort than some drivers. Oscar Wilde's Last Words: "Either this wallpaper goes, or I do."

Any accident that happens inside the roundabout will be a low speed collision which can easily be moved to the side. Maybe it should be mandatory that people move any vehicles in such a collision, to the side, as many localities require?

Let people get used to the simplest form of a roundabout first. Two lanes requires a little more thought.
I sure don't miss sitting at lights.

"There are a lot of very old people in Puna, the hippies from the 70's are now sour old codgers."
Are you a hippy from the 70s, PT? It would explain an awful lot.
