House to be built right next to mine (WHY) !
#1
I live in Seaview, lot' are mostly 60' wide, my house is 8' from prop line , he is building his home right next to mine , that's only 16' apart .now get this the lot next to him is empty!. I asked why building his home so close to mine, his answer , that tha'ts how he planed it,to fit his Argus kit home. I have tried to tell him to be considerate of your neighbor & have the drive way next to my house & his home next to the empty side lot .
He said no because doesn't fit his water catchment & cesspool placements. What to do?
He live's in a apartment complex in Farmington,Utah. Will someone email him & infor him of the Aloha, I will be truly great full, his email in Utah is (removed by moderator)

Local wisdom suggests this is really your fault for not buying enough buffer around your house. It sucks, but at least Seaview property has value, you can always sell and move.

It's possible the lot next to his will eventually be a rooster farm and he'll be happy with his decision to be further away from it.

If he won't voluntarily change his plans, perhaps you can kindly ask him if it boils down to a matter of money (aka it will cost $1000 to change the blueprints, or whatever) and offer to pay half.

If you put your house 8ft from the property line Why can't he! Are there different rules just for you

60' is the prob, not the neighbour. youre in a small box and cant get out..
fwiw my lots 871' long. we would be irked too if someone built within 75' of our place.. but legally they can..
I do get your point, but you were doomed when you decided to buy a postage stamp sized pixi-lot in lava zone zero, on that overcrowded 1955 lava flow so far from stores etc... if you wanted privacy, dat sure AINT da place in Puna to be... good luck

Start planting bushes to screen your house from theirs. A hibiscus hedge would look nice and grow fast.

The only way to know where neighboring houses are going to be in relation to your home is to build between two existing homes, other than that you only have the legal setbacks to protect yourself. You chose to build right on the setback line, instead of in the middle of your lot, now you are paying the price because your new neighbor is doing the same. Posting your new neighbor's email address on a public forum and requesting total strangers send him scolding emails is certainly not how you build a good relationship with someone who will be a "close" neighbor and shows exactly zero aloha.

He probably is so pissed off at your crappy attitude at this point that he has no desire to listen to you, but any Argus house plan can be flipped at no extra cost.

That's a new/interesting strategy. Usually the norm is that there are no take-backs: Dig your heels in, make counter accusations, admit nothing, deny everything, and try to divide the community using any means necessary.
