Opihikao, just read your post and got a good dose of chicken skin. I just returned from a motorcycle ride to see the lava and saw a good looking girl in a bikini with a white german shepard walking on the side of the road. Saw her twice, on the way in and on the way out. I never knew Tutu Pele could be a young woman.
Still here with the chicken skin.

I love it! [Smile] Thanks for sharing, rocketman. It is quite interesting given the timing of the flow. She has been known to be more frequently seen (in human form) when the lava is flowing. Many different stories over the years of the encounters people have had, and now, you may have seen her yourself!

How exciting! Mahalo for sharing.

Have a lovely evening, all.

Love your posts opihikao, mahalo.

There's a new map yesterday: http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/maps/uploads/image-335.jpg

The lava has appeared to have flowed about a mile in 5 days. I wonder if the lava viewing tour boats are gearing up to start operating again this holiday weekend?

Hawaiinewsnow got a photo from a viewer with Kilauea in the far background. She started looking closer and saw something. In case it is hard to see, look to the far left as it zooms in. Once you see, you can't un-see.

Those who know about Pele's hair knows it is blonde. The kupua are described as being white. That is why Cook was welcomed on his first visit, the people on Kauai thought he was a kupua from the west. It's also interesting that Quetzalcoatl is white and the Aztecs at first thought Cortez was Quetzalcoatl, leading to their downfall.

"Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!"

People have a natural inclination to see certain features as human.

Hui! Aloha ahiahi, SBH. Trust all is well with you and your ohana. Mahalo ke Akua, for people like yourself. Mahalo for your map of the new flow. Isn't it exciting!!?!??! I love it (obviously..lol[Smile] No words to explain, it just "is".)

We (my mo'opuna, and their friends) just returned from our "ho'okupu" offering, and mahalo to our Tutu Pele (and ancestors). What a sight!

The tours, (boats, hiking, etc.) have/will resume(d), and all I hope for is that no egg beaters, forks, spoons, or SPAM cans, or whatever else is sold on Ebay (lol, seriously SMH...) ceases. This experience ("adventure") is for those who understand the true essence of where we live...

As long as no one wants to "blow a hole in the side of Pu'u O'o", we're good. [Smile]

Aloha to you, SBH, and your ohana, as always.

E Pele e, noho nani mai...Ko kino e, mili mili e...E ho mai.
