If I ever see a drone buzzing over my house, hunting season is on!! The advantage of it carrying parcels would be like Mr. Rogers stating "let's see what Mr. mailman brought us today.".

Tip for the future:
When a drone is on a delivery run, most of the time it would zip over and across your property faster than you could raise a rifle sight to your eye. If it is slow moving... and you manage a direct hit... BAM!... you've probably just blown up a pair of shoes your wife ordered on sale, online. The last pair in her size and preferred color. Now who's irritated?

OK, order a couch on Amazon. I've tried.

Interesting forecast into the future of crime and drone piracy. Hackers will redirect drones to deliver packages to alternate locations, others will simply catch the drones (possibly with their own drones), steal the cargo, and maybe even ransom the delivery drone back to it's rightful owner or sell it on the black market, maybe a drone "chop shop" where the pirated drones can be stripped and reassembled into more pirate drones.

Good thing George Lucas retired before making a "Drone Wars" trilogy full of melodramatic acting, shallow CGI muppet characters, and extended "Cantina" scenes where spacey ChuckECheese characters play his vision of music from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away while a bloated smuggling space slug leers at humanoid women he doesn't have the biology to "appreciate" while he wolfs down bland Asian food previously barged in... frozen in carbonite.

Thank you terracore. Jobs for East Hawaii.
As you've pointed out earlier we have a nearly infinite supply of bland Asian food here, so if we could only get the TMT built in order to identify our potential interstellar export market of smuggling space slugs and the like...

The sky's (as they say) the limit!

So, drones are good, but Tourii helicopters are bad? My comment was sort of "tongue in cheek" that I do not care for drones incessantly zipping overhead to deliver a neighbors parcel, and just wait until green harvest starts utilizing them to be more efficient in their program while both situations diminish ones quality of life with their noise pollution.

HOTPE I think you are onto something! TMT helps us find the customers, the UFO landing pad at Kalapana is already here ready to receive their freighters, we just need the PMAR to be built in order to handle the traffic from the various sources of Bland Asian Food (BAF) to the extraterrestrial marketplace.

Four thousand years from now, whatever species replaces us after our destruction due to GMO mosquitoes, will gaze upon the great pyramids of Kalapana and wonder what their purpose was. A grain silo built by Joseph? Nope. They will sift through stryofoam containers, chopsticks, and the occasional little plastic ampule thingie of soy sauce and wonder. And they will never decode the mystery of the intergalactic BAF trade.

Drones are quieter, and would be dispatched to serve the customer -- I (for one) did not ask for helicopters over my house.

I further speculate that any "near-term" approval of drone delivery will require drones to follow existing roads so as to avoid traveling over "private" property -- at which point the noise/impact is same-or-less-than someone driving a car.

I wonder how they won't crash into another once they become commonplace as the FAA is already overwhelmed with the larger aircraft. At least you won't find a helicopter in their "fly zone". The drones are a big problem in fighting wildfires, if one is spotted, all aerial suppression and observation is grounded, allowing the fire to spread endangering ground crews.

The drones are equipped with autonomous collision avoidance software. I saw a video of drones flying in a room and successfully avoiding each other and the humans that were jumping out randomly trying to create problems for them. Networked, one drone can warn surrounding drones of problems and the entire "hive" can adjust their flight patterns on-the-fly. I couldn't find the video, but here's one of drones building a bridge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcuwCtDgVr0
