I've been holding back but gotta say WTF !
People walking up Orchidland Dr. AT NITE ON THE WRONG SiDE of the road with their backs to traffic!
And this aint the first time.
Not only that. But wearing DARK CLOTHES, nothing reflective.
I almost hit two numb-nuts a little while ago.
I was so pissed I stopped and yelled at them to walk on the other side. Facing oncoming traffic...DUH..
I don't want to be libel for your stupidity!
Unbelievable. SMH

While I do agree with you kimo.. look at it from the walkers side.. if you are going to get killed by a drunk or distracted driver... it's best to not see it coming.
eta: and yes it is foolish to not wear reflective clothing at night.

I see it all the time. The effect is enhanced with drivers not using their headlights. I've seen cars with no lights two hours after sundown.

Funny, Alaska 66.
But if you hit somebody and its their fault?
Guess what it becomes your fault too.
I was in an accident years ago and even though all evidence pointed to the other person being at fault my insurance company said I was 50% at fault because
I WAS THERE.

kimo wires,
I completely understand your frustration. Why people decide to walk along a dark road and not face oncoming traffic just defies logic.
Then again, there are people who walk right in the middle of a dark road...

That's why they got speed limits! Also my headlights too weak. Sometimes I hit the brakes in the dark just out of paranoia. I'm lucky the guy following me don't yell at me.

I'm glad this thread was started! THIS IS URGENT: Last evening around dusk: 6:30ish a large group of children and dogs were walking up Ainaloa Boulevard just past the park up to the part of the road where there's that big hill and you cannot see oncoming traffic. SOOoo dangerous. That's the part of the road where the sidewalk just ends and there is a tiny narrow strip of asphalt. Now the speed limit for most of Ainaloa is 25, I think there it is reduced to 15 but let me tell you, NOBODY drives 15 there. This has happened to me several times in my commute from Hawaiian Acres to see me girlfriend in Leilani. I drive slow and carefully through that area. Anyway last night as I crest the hill several maniacs coming in the opposite direction speeding through there swerve a bit into my lane to avoid puddling which happens often right there and should really be addressed and fixed by Ainaloa. Of course after swerving toward me I cannot give any room and hold my ground because of the scores of kids walking just off to my right. Let me tell you, my heart raised up into my throat after two speeders crested the hill and almost nailed me then almost went off the road trying to avoid me. I said a prayer quickly and hoped none of those kids or animals lives would be taken. A recipe for disaster. Rain, speeders, low light visibility,18-25 Micronesian kids and a few dogs coming home after playing basketball in the park, and a tiny narrow ridiculous walkway on the side of the road. I don't know what to do here or who to call but this should be addressed so no lives are taken.

coming home after playing basketball in the park
How nice that we're building more parks while ignoring the "lack of infrastructure" problem.
