Pin Finder recomendation?

I know this has been discussed before, but the one recommendation I found on PW (islandboundaries.com) appears to be out of business.

Here is the situation:
5 acre lot that was surveyed in 2006, we have the survey map. We have found one front pin and a line of stakes partway up one side. What we want is someone to locate the rest of the pins and cut a path along the sides and back.

At this point we really do not need it surveyed again (we are not building at this point and even if we were we are pretty sure in 5 acres we could manage to not encroach on some other property).

We have gotten a quote from Independent Hawaii Surveyors ($3500!) and the recommendation we got from a neighbor for a pin finder is proving to be a flake.

Not knowing your terrain I can add this:

When I located pins in jungle I brought out some 4' lengths of rebar to drive in at the pins. When the rebar was set I took 10' lengths of PVC pipe and slipped it over the rebar. To the top of the PVC pipe I tied neon surveyor's tape. With that in place it was still a bit hard to spot at any distance with guava in the woods.

Rob - thank you -- that is exactly what we want to do. And I should add that the lot is heavily wooded with strawberry guava, albezia, and who know what else/

I can't personally vouch but I asked the same question and got this in an email:

Sara Brichen did our line. She isn't a "licensed surveyor" but does a fine job and uses a laser.
She has help from a guy and they did a great job of clearing the line.
She can find all four pins for you and "shoot" however many sides you want. Price will vary between $200 and $500.

There's a guy in Hawaiian Acres that's been pin finding for decades. Slow but quality work (he works every other day). $300 to find all the pins on a 3 acre lot, and straight cut the first side and back lines. $100-200 more for the last side line if you need it, depending on the difficulty.

He doesn't have a phone, but you can leave a message for him with the community center.

After your lines are cut and all pins found,plant 7ft tall wide leaf Ti cane - the red variety and the green variety down the line every 10 to 20 feet if can.As the jungle over grows the Ti will will always stay above the ferns and Rob's suggestion is also spot on .
The fellow in H.A. did ours way back when and to contact him,leave message at HACA Building office and he will get a hold of you.

Thanks all. We have contacted Sara and she is scheduled for next week. So far she has been responsive. Apparently she does not cut much of a line and my husband will end up going through afterward and clearing it a bit more.
