HICOP to have a booth this Sunday 11-6 at Makuu
#1
Now is the time to show support for HICOP. We are a grass roots organization of volunteers who are trying to bring peace and quiet back to our neighborhoods. There is strength in numbers.

You can sign up for notification of future meetings or to join our cause. We’ll have hand outs and free goodies (homemade fudge and brownies) at 10 am. Mahalo!

How do you bring back the peace and quiet?

HICOP currently has a voluntary proposal in front of the operators to fly offshore- 2 miles out and 5000 feet high. If not voluntarily adopted, then legislation like what New York did or what Los Angeles proposes might prevail. Potentially might have to go thru the initiative process here. We are following due process.

Other options include relocating the helis to where they go- Put them back in the park where they used to be or at least nearby not 25 miles away-save gas, eliminate complaints. Develop flight paths over lava and not people's homes. We welcome new ides and suggestions- Mahalo!

What you are proposing is illegal !

I'm missing something. What is illegal? You're saying people in flight paths have no say whatever?

The FAA suggested that we do this. They arranged the meeting between us and the flight directors. We are much further along than you think. There's a chance that the helicopter tour companies will accept the proposal and helicopter noise over residential areas on the Big Island will only be a memory or at least infrequent.

Thanks for describing your proposal. My only suggestion would be to include Green Harvest in the 2 miles offshore part. Wink

I'll stop by and sign up, see you Sunday!
