Black Thursday/Friday in Hilo
#1
I'm staying home on Black Friday! And Black Thursday evening! Actually there really isn't much offered here on the Big Island that I would call a bargain. Now if I lived on the mainland....it would be a different story! But I am tempted to go grocery shopping at Target in the wee hours of the morning since they are open all night.

I dont 'do holidays'.. we make our own. But if the store is open allnight.. might as well take advantage.

I went shopping on Black Friday just once, years ago. I got stuck in a parking lot for half an hour; not parked and shopping, just waiting for a bajillion other drivers to move out of the way so I could turn around and go home.

I noticed brightly lit holiday lamppost decorations along the Bayshore tonight. Are they new, or did I just never notice them in previous years?

People can be such sheep. Save, save money, bargains! That's what the big box stores advertise for their sales. However the wool is so easily pulled over eyes. Come on down and "save" money on stuff that you wouldn't normally really need to buy but because you're hear and you have money in your wallet, might as well go spend it because it's cheaper than it normally is. Bargain: something you don't need, at a price you can't resist.

Best decision our family ever made was to stop buying gifts for Christmas. Instead of spending time looking for a gift we spend time with each other.

Gifts are great, when they come from the heart, but the heart may be someplace else when you live where it doesn't snow. (And Aunt June's knitted wool sweater isn't a survival necessity!)

Everything at target is 15% off today only. Good day to stock up on groceries. Welfare week starts in a few days.

(there are a few exclusions but its not much)
