Noise with neighbors and frogs?
#1
Our time is nearing with our one-way tickets and are getting pretty excited. I couple questions....if you are in a propery on say, HPP and have a normal kind of 1 acre lot, how is the noise from neighbors? Also regarding those darling frogs, are they everywhere or more so with spots with lots of trees. Thanks!

Holly, Many areas in HPP have good neighbors, and a one acre lot is a peaceful retreat.....however, there are a few "neighbors from _____" that can make a one acre seem ever so puny. Most of the lots in HPP (and many other subdivision in Puna) are more long & narrow than square, so if you & neighbor have your houses right in line, you can end up surprisingly close (and if the have a cock farm, trainng pit animals, or blasting their subwoofers, it can get awfully close. (These neighbors are not common, just so annoying as to merit mention).
The frogs are still in the moving in phase of their settling into Puna, so it is hard to guess where they will not be in the future, but they seem to definately like trees and denser overgrowth than more sparse vegetation, but you can find the little buggers even down on oceanfront lots with no big trees. Guess they just like the view! (Can't blame 'em)
Aloha, Carey

There are many sub divisions between these two areas. We are in Eden Roc, there is Hawaiiand Acres, Fern Acres, Aloha Estates and many others. Each have their pluses and minuses.

Most neighborhoods can have one or two of those "neighbors from _____". If you are used to areas with covenants & restrictions, the variety of the annoyances some neighbors can create is awe inspiring. But, that said, most neighbors here (as every where) are great. Eden A Roc is a much smaller subdivision than HPP (which has 8,800 1 acre lots). It is at a higher elevation, and is one of the cooler temp. subdivisions.

Aloha from Puna. The Puna area is so large, and that is why we love it. If you would like a fun and informational tour of the area, I would like to do it. Some areas have more frogs than others even in the same subdivision. Only way to know is to go.
