Looks like you are safe from having to buy mailboxes.

Well all you experts win. I have just submitted my resignation to HPPOA Board of Directors. All I ever intended to do was to try to make life better here in HPP for all of us. I had no hidden agenda, no Special Interests (The wrinkled up Cheerleader and her Whiner Boy) but I did my best and was second guessed by the Poisonous 10 at every turn.
The remaining members of the BoD are decent hard working people. I might add much more hard working than the majority here. The vast majority, or at least most vocal among you, has made it impossible. I strongly suggest you the naysayers and scribbling note takers (Ms. Wrinkledup Cheerleader and Whiner Boy). So in keeping with the prevailing attitude here in HPP I would like to say "Screw you. I have a mail box"

So unprofessional and it's very evident Mr Sowdan was drinking the nasty koolaid spoon fed to every newbie that gets on the board since Jul 2014. It's prob for the best that he resigned. He hasn't been on the board very long and is spewing the same ugly koolaid we've heard over and over since Jul 2014 by Dist 5, 6 and 2. He said from day 1 on the board he was going to do whatever the board told him to.....

... The contempt is remarkable! Don't let the door hit you on the way out Jerry.

He makes a good argument as why we have to have a proffessional management company taking over.

The nerve...

Ah.. most community organizations are always so thoughtful for the feelings of their brothers and sisters whether it is the lack of mailboxes or problems with roads. Nothing to big or small. Always trying to help in a kind way and show their love.

Psalm 133:1King James Version (KJV)

133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

You owe HPP members an apology Mr. Sodan. If you had fulfilled your obligation you would have read and understood and followed our bylaws, done your research none of this would have happened. It is on your shoulders and the ones you followed, no one else's. Your behavior was truly out of line and your resignation is a relief. Shame on you for the discord you created. And I am thankful enough members were not silenced by this suppressive board. Your job was to maintain our roads and nothing else. It is crystal clear in our bylaws.

It's pretty sad that this concerned citizen was trying to make a difference and you trash him !!

Sad and sick !!!

Obie aren't you the one who posted his resignation here? Was it posted on facebook? We wouldn't have seen it if not for you. Take responsibility.

Sodan's name calling and anger is misplaced and unbecoming of a board representative.

"Screw you. I have a mail box"

This seems to be a common attitude in Puna: "It's not a problem because I already have mine."

When I finish getting mine, I'll stop complaining too.

Your post copied below...WELL DONE, MERMAID!!! Precisely the interpretation of bylaws I received ! And thank you, Kalakoa.

And my point was, this looked like an easier class action law suit (less money outlay) of all.
Let them illegally charge us,threatening penalties if we don't pay, all the better. Pay under protest .
With the current resignation, it appears to me that the Board might have gotten their own legal opinion on this...... similar to ours.

"Please scratch my earlier post today except:
I believe that the mailbox project would come under Article IV Objects and Purposes (a) "To ascertain the needs and desires of lot owners of the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision and represent those needs and desires as appropriate."

That's about all the board can do at this point in regards to the mailbox project. It's been ascertained that members need and desire mailboxes in the park. That's as far as this can go as kalakoa had already surmised.

After great discussion w/a few members knowledgeable of our bylaws, we've concluded:

There are no provisions in our bylaws for the mailbox project as our bylaws are currently written. The board can't get involved in construction of the mailbox area nor the purchasing of boxes bc it's contrary to the bylaws. Not covered under road maint activity, road maint, restricted funds, road maint assessments or special assessments.

As the bylaws stand currently, the mailbox project is dead in the water, for now."

Yes, there are people in the park that would like mailboxes. And we too waited over 3 years for ours.
Our association is for the purpose of road maintenance...not developing 8800 mailboxes or illegally assessing it's members.
Thank you for your research.

When he posted that, he had already resigned and was speaking at the same level as those who denounce him.

How did you end up with the mailboxes that are located in the right-away of your existing roads? Not in the bylaws then they all need to be removed.
They are illegal and have to go asap !!

Doesn't matter if he had resigned. It showed us what kind of board member he was and would continue to be. He chose to blame members for the board's mistake and reduced himself to name calling which is unbecoming whether a board representative or not.

why would our Association need to pay for the removal of existing boxes ?
I think the point here is to have our CURRENT Board of Directors uphold our bylaws.....that's a big enough job .
