HPP mailbox vote
based on assumptions, with no communication with the people in charge

It was evident from the beginning when they thought they could bill us $150 ea. and assess a late fee of 25% on top of that if we didn't pay by June 30th, that something very wrong and premature had taken place. Esp to those that know HPP's bylaws and policies.

As I have said from the beginning, they were premature and made evident the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. You don't mail out notices to 8,800 people w/out crossing your t's and dotting your i's first. This is far more complex than the mailbox committee and board could fathom. Who was in charge and who went rogue? And then to expect brand new reps to take the reins on such a complex project? People who don't know our bylaws?

To make matters worse, deflect and blame members for this blowing up in their face....it's someone else's fault..."I resigned bc of the Poisonous 10"...they need to put their big boy pants on and take responsibility. They must still be accepting $$$ and votes from unknowing members.... what are they planning on doing w/that $$$? They misled everyone....it's time to return the $$$ and do a whole lot more research before emerging w/A PLAN. AND you don't extend your hand asking for any $$$ until THE PLAN is presented and a membership vote is taken. Votes received and counted by a reputable 3rd party. As we speak, they are trying to get an atty to give them a green light. Typical and using association $.

Still laboring under the misapprehension that a volunteer board can manage the subdivision as it now exists.

Just replace it with professional management or a County SID already.

Like I said before, some people really need to get new hobbies.

Chunkster, you think things are bad now, wait until everyone "got a new hobby". I have learned things I wouldn't know if people weren't posting this information. I see we have a bunch of people on the board who are reckless and mismanaging my road maintenance fees. Just because they're board members doesn't mean anyone should assume they know what they're doing. I knew something was wrong but didn't know how it was going wrong. I've learned not to take everything for granted and pay attention to what these board people are up to.

Leo, what I meant is that we have amateurs running the HPPOA into the ground now and other amateurs saying they could run it better. It's all a hobby for both those in control and those who want to be. Time after time, some new set of amateurs takes over, and things only get worse. We need professional management hired by non-resident supervisors appointed by a judge. If the current state of affairs doesn't convince you that self-government for HPP doesn't work, I don't know what will. So yes, some people will need to get new hobbies if things are to ever improve.

It appears Chunkster meant that for me Leo. This is no hobby to me Chunkster. I can't with good conscience just walk away when I see blatant bylaw breaking. Don't knock those that are trying to stop these whacko board actions we keep seeing time and time again. It's better than doing absolutely nothing. Bc most members don't attend mtgs, I post to inform.

Our bylaws need amendments and is part of the problem. It's not just lack of enforcement, it's the gray areas and loopholes that exist. We have found many and are trying to fix that.

Chunkster, every board has it's issues as you know. The brand new reps that came in Jul 2014 took us all to another level we've never seen = lawsuit. They didn't know or read the bylaws. With all the resignations from reps since Jul 2014 (bc of bullying) we have had an endless supply of new reps who've had no history or knowledge of our bylaws under their belt, spending and wasting lots of association money under the veil of non transparency. The potential is higher for another lawsuit. Following reps with an agenda and alternate facts, instead of learning the bylaws themselves and searching for their own truth perpetuates the problems.

No one on the board since Jul 2014 knows what it's like to be on a half way prof'l board where standard SOP's wasn't yelling or bullying one another until they resign or submit, bc they don't fall in line w/the rest of them. Or the SOP to bully, squash, name call or threaten a specific group of members (watchdogs) who's only request has been to follow the bylaws or try to hold them accountable. "Try" = speaking up.

(as kalokoa stated in an earlier post: "and the membership remained silent. Silence = consent, right?")

At least I can't be accused of being silent. I have a target on my back.

Remember this conversation?

Chunkster posted 1/27/17:
I could regale you all with five pages of the sorry history going back through the 15 years I have been involved in the HPPOA, but let's just say that self government for HPP has been an abject failure. The system is broken and needs to be replaced from the ground up.

mermaid responded:
I agree. But again, who's going to spearhead fixing this broken system from the ground up? Isn't that the failure here as well that no one comes forward to spearhead all these good ideas?

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Albert Einstein

I like this one better: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Edmund Burke

Both quotes apply... Nothing will change unless people take action, not just talk about it ("same thing over and over again and expecting different results")

You speak of receivership...how's the Bond going to affect that?

I Shouldn't be posting here because I don't own property in HPP but I would like to remind everyone that I previously offered my expertise in putting together a mailbox committee/association!

I got pissed off when people started posting that the USPS in Keeau was going to provide you with free mailboxes !!

I put a stop to that !!
