"Why can't we all just get along?"
Rodney King requesting calm after police beat him, which then lead to riots because police beat him, causing even more beatings of citizens protesting... Watched on my TV in Puna

I guess there's a way to defend myself without also being disrespectful. Here's the respectful way then, Miss Mimosa. First, e kala mai ia'u. Second, I was wrong to insult you, even if you insulted me, that doesn't change the rules of aloha. Third, my line of thinking was "man, those hot pools have so much nasty bacteria caused by -human people- swimming in them, it can't be great for the little local critters. If only there was some way to cleanse it of that human contaminant." It turns out that the local critters don't care about the bacteria, so I was ignorant there. Fourth, I don't have any plans of flirting with local women, there's a reason why I explicitly said "hot tourists." Now, I am curious though. Why would it matter who I flirt with? Aloha is aloha.

Just an FYI - Mimosa is 90 something years old, so unless you like arguing with your grandparents don't bother her.
Considering your initial question has been thoroughly answered, maybe this thread is kaput.
Sure missing my old neighbor Alani these days. He use to live and care take the hot pond property in Poihiki until he was shot on his bulldozer one day. I think he was shot and killed over some Pakalolo patch.
Let's live and let live, Mrs. Mimosa is one of our dearest Kupuna on the island. In the future Please listen, respect and learn rather than insult our Kupuna. jmo

GN, Mimosa's advice is worth paying for, instead you insult it.
Much to learn.

She insulted me first, guys. Stop pretending she didn't just because she's old. Age doesn't give you a free pass to insult people, and I apologized, stop pretending I didn't. You guys also have a lot to learn.

I feel exactly the same way, brah. Some folks aren't showing a whole lot of aloha here, but you know what? I understand. It can be hard to keep the prime directive of aloha in mind.

Try to remember that there is no body language or other clues on what someone might precisely mean when they post. Different cultures express things in different ways. Postings on the internet don't offer a clue. I try to remind myself that on any given day someone is happy, someone is unhappy, someone just got bad news, someone is drunk, the whole range of life.
Just try to react slowly and remember, as one of my mentors taught me, just because someone puts a hoop up in front of you does not mean you have to jump through it.
Another worthwhile adage: Don't believe everything you think.
Assume the best and ask questions.
