2017 Hawaii Excise Tax Forms
#1
If you have a business, you may not yet have received your 2017 Hawaii Excise Tax filing booklet. I called yesterday and was told "it's late this year due to a delay at the printers."

I was also told we are still required to file our first quarter payment by the regular deadline and need to get a copy of the forms ourselves should the booklet not arrive in time, although the state expects they will be mailed in the next week. Or so. To those of you who need a physical copy of bills, invoices, and other payment due forms as a helpful reminder to pay them (like myself), this is your electronic reminder. Transfer it to a post-it note if you wish.

Please add your comments below about the state's inability to ask us for money in a timely fashion, then still require payment be made on time, whether or not they are on time in their responsibility to provide us with the expected, required, and necessary paperwork.

You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

"it's late this year due to a delay at the printers."

Probably a side effect of the "new, improved" GE account numbering, implemented so as to "streamline" and "modernize" the GE system.

The "improvement" mostly consists of: a 10-digit number instead of an 8-digit number, and replacing the W with some letters that indicate the "type" of GET account. (I don't want to know how many $millions this cost, nor do I see the "value".)

still require payment be made on time

Note that if you pay your GE dues by check, State may take several weeks to cash the check -- meanwhile, they will send you letters about your "overdue" payment. I don't know if they ever fixed this problem.

Is the website still screwed up? We were not able to log in a couple quarters ago, and eventually went to the office in Hilo and were told they were changing the website (which HAD worked like clock work), and nobody was able to log in.

Thanks for the reminder HTOPE. I completely forgot. Time to go to the office in Hilo again. Nothing like "new and improved" to create more hassles.

"it's late this year due to a delay at the printers."

Which mainland printer? Or did they outsource to China this time?
