I have two questions :
Can the public use the Pahoa or Keaau HS tennis courts on weekends/after school ?
Where can one get tennis lessons?
Any info greatly appreciated

Try the UH - they have tennis courts that are used by a local tennis club. Can probably get lessons there too!

Most likely, yes, but just call the schools and ask.

Keaau & Pahoa have public tennis courts in their parks...which are both about 1/2 mile from the HS...so why would you not want to use the PUBLIC courts???
There are Table Tennis clubs in Hilo & Kona
As for lessons Ping Pong, the county Parks & Rec does offer some:

Where are the Pahoa courts? I know the one at Shipman, but they are often busy, so I was looking for alternates nearby. As HS courts are often public courts, I drove by the high school, but
No parking and didn't try to go in and see if they were locked. I can call, just curious if anyone knew policy.

An older thread from Punaweb has the answer!
Yes the public can play on the Pahoa Courts, but students have priority (esp on weekdays...)

& I guess that I THOUGHT the brand new covered "play courts" would include the ability to play tennis.... never have checked... actually never have seen them open - we mainly hang out at the pool MWF mornings & never have seen the play courts open then... but haven`t really checked...so...
