Great! We will be working with John Dirgo "exclusively" and told the #1 realtor and of course he was not very happy about that.

John Dirgo will take great care of you. Great choice!
As for Aloha Estates, my initial reaction is that it is rather rough around the edges. Having said that I will make two important observations.
1. Most of the subdivisions in Puna start out rough around the edges, offer great opportunities and as families move in the flavor changes, development brings with it landscaping, general cleaning up and good vibes.
2. ANY subdivision is only as good as your neighbors. You have to check out every lot/house and see shat is in the 6 house radius arund you... that makes or breaks your experience to a large degree. Look at everything before you decide.
Good Luck

Thanks for the heads-up Pam! Hey - what about rainfall in that area? Obviously I like rain, but again - is it constant? Check out this MLS listing:

Of course, you only get to see the house in question, and it HAS been on the market a long time. We'll have to take a ride out and look at it. My mom loves the idea of a mother-in-law room.

Rain every day? Sure.... of course.... buckets full... keep telling eveyrone that!
It can rain heavily, but we are on day 6 of summer sunshine with only a little evening sprinkle one night. It is definitely summer. We see rain off and on form the most part, sprinkling rain that you can be out in, working, walking or whatever. In winter we have some torrential rains that may last a few days and the wet can last a couple weeks. However, it is not dark, cold and gloomy rain. Usually the sun is shining thru, light in the daytime and I personally find it delightful. During the time we do have some heavy heavy rains.... maybe a few days at a time, I crack out a good book, hot tea and curl up. Great excuse for a down day or two...
The house in Aloha Estates is on the main entry road to the subdivision whichis good. Many of the roads there are very poorly maintained dirt roads but this is on the paved road, good access and lovely across from the Buddhist Temple. John will know whether the price is in line ( I have NO idea) but it looks like a cute little house. I stress little, but check it out!
Good Luck and come see me when you go there... John knows where I live. Pam

Carrie, you might want to stay at lower elevations. Though Aloha Estates vastly improved after the mormons built the church back there, it is still kind of a wild west.

Okay Buzz...BREATHE!!!
That's one of the houses we are lookin' at next week! Hahahaha!!! You don't have to find me a home - I'm up for the HUNT!!
Just trying to find out about Aloha Estates here and YOU GUYS all got so freakin' silly!!!
There is a house that's kinda like "I was afraid to dream it" house and it's come down in price to near a level we can handle...then I saw someone on Konaweb last night (a newbie) say she saw a house she was thinking about buying in that area...so I'm just glad we are on our way!!! Only five days 'til we come HOME to find our home.
To infinity and BEYOND, BUZZ!!
