A debate starts up about illegal immigration and straight away (see this forum) out they come, those that are descended from immigrants yet are against any immigration - legal or illegal. Their motives are clear.

I think you'll find that not all legal immigrants speak English, by the way.

"I think you'll find that not all legal immigrants speak English, by the way."

You bring up a good point. English is required to become a citizen, not to be a legal immigrant. Not all legal immigrants choose to become citizens.

ETA: changed "be" to "become", last sentence.

" Their motives are clear."

Huh?!

Illegal= no license= no insurance. Even if you purchase insurance while illegally here without a valid license, your insurance is void. They do not have to pay.

PaulW...

If you were illegal at the time he was, in Hawaii, you could not possibly have a drivers license! Actually, I do not believe you can now, either, especially after the Real ID act of 2005. I do realize a couple of states have implemented drivers licenses for illegals but those licenses are somewhat provisional.

What's the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration? Legal immigrants learn the laws of this country before they get here, learn to speak English, learn our country's history, apply to live here legally, pass the test in English, and take the oath and become citizens. Like mom did.

Illegal immigrants start their lives here by learning how to circumvent our laws. It sounds crass, but it's part of the deal. That's what "illegal" means. Breaking laws.

Excellent points, terracore. [Smile]

"It also means he was driving with no license and most likely no insurance either."

Okay, are you now ready to withdraw that unfounded accusation? We all make mistakes.
