A police sting would be nice some Saturday night.
They have been doing DUI roadblocks on Wednesday night after Uncle Robert's.

Don't know. I've lived down here for 17 years and it has been going on most Saturday nights. We go out and sweep up the broken beer bottles every so often. I guess as long as no one gets killed , the police just ignore it.
Kind of ironic though the police started issuing tickets for speeding during the day after the road was paved. Before paving the speed limit was 45 and after it was nice and smooth the speed limit dropped to 35.

Thanks, Obie. We've had some issues with road racing on Beach Road in HPP recently, but nothing like what you describe.

I was down that way today, & some residents told me it's difficult for them to sleep Saturday nights due to the races. The cops won't stop participants because police don't engage in high speed chases- - the racers and others watching just speed away if and when cops show up. I did notice the stretch of Red Road used to race between Kapoko Kai & hot ponds has no other exit. Perhaps it hasn't occurred to our local officers, but when I've watched movies with two or more squad cars in them, at some point they often employ a technique called a "road" "block." I won't bore you with the details of how this is planned & implemented, and perhaps the logistics of such a coordinated effort between multiple officers and their personal, subsidized vehicles which might get damaged in the operation is more than HPD cares to take on. But this "road" "blocking" action would allow police to trap racing participants for ID checks without resorting to high speed chases.
It's just a thought, and I suppose the whole "road" "block" thing could be a figment of the wild imaginations those Hollywood screen writers have. Anything to get us to watch their movies, no matter how implausible or how much suspension of belief might be required.
Four people are in a room and seven leave. How many have to enter again before it's empty?

I believe this new-fangled road block idea has been tried here before on a remote road called the summit access road. The experiment was successful and involved rocks in the road. In that case, it was considered dangerous, but with a few modifications, (i.e., not leaving rocks on the road), I believe it might just work.

I'm mildly surprised they don't put speed bumps/logs down that road... but that might just start a whole new "Dukes of Hazzard thing".

I'm not a fan of speed bumps, environmentally, they're unsound, but installing a couple of these would almost certainly fix the problem!
