OLCA lawsuit

Stranger things have happened.
Like Trump becoming president.
Oops, Not Puna related.
Not directly anyway.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

"To claim there's a "conflict of interest" here sugggests a desire for the alternate outcome wherein the subdivision just gets crappier."

No, it doesn't. If the Special Master or Receiver had a financial interest in making the subdivision crappier I would be singing the same tune. The fact that there is a financial interest at all is what makes it a conflict of interest. It is the very definition. The desire here is that the investigation, and the receivership if it goes there, should be carried out by a NEUTRAL/IMPARTIAL party. That is not what we have.

Day-Lum handled HPP's receivership. They have more problems than ever now. Wasn't receivership supposed to fix everything? They paid $300,000 plus expenses for this "service". Is it so absurd that I would prefer a more positive outcome from all of this?

This entire island is one big conflict of interest. Every dollar spent on lawyers and lawsuits is a dollar not spent on roads, high-speed internet, other useful infrastructure. It's an absurd waste of resources. Especially when there's broad general agreement about the desired outcome: road maintenance, property values.

If I dig into the history, I'll probably discover that someone skimped on the solution. Receivership is merely a Big Reset. Installing a worthless Board afterwards means that yes, receivership was a waste of time and money.

Everyone repeat after me: we get to live in paradise, and it is very expensive.

Kalakoa says in reference to HPP: If I dig into the history, I'll probably discover that someone skimped on the solution. Receivership is merely a Big Reset. Installing a worthless Board afterwards means that yes, receivership was a waste of time and money.

Well, I have dug into the history, and HPP blew the opportunity the "Big Reset" receivership provided. It wasn't an overnight drop off a cliff, but a gradual descent into bickering and failure to follow the by-laws. There was a climax of sorts when three key employees were fired over three years ago, resulting in a lawsuit that continues today. Look at any of the recent HPP threads to see the result. And please, don't hijack this into yet another HPP mess thread. I only say this as a cautionary tales for our friends in Orchidland.

Didn't Orchidland go through something like this about 10 years ago?

"Big Reset"

Interesting concept. Does this mean going back to a point in time when everything was working properly? When was that?

When was that?

Before the white man came.

Nancyc@daylum.com

The report was due last week, however she got a one week extension. If you want to send an email, do it yesterday, or today at the latest.
