Exactly.
Some years ago I lived on one of the worst roads, now it's one the best roads. All she's requesting is for up to minute information about current conditions. Think of it as a weather forecast. You want today's report, which will assist you in planning around events this afternoon. The weather (or road conditions) from time in memoriam won't help much with that.

The Donner Party really wasn't that great of a party, was it?

She cannot do anything by herself, the issue involves ALL the board members, the useless manager....and the sleeping majority of homeowners.these folks know all too well the CURRENT road conditions. We don't need a self promoter making believe she can single-handed save the community.this woman's personal ambitions have no room here.

The facts are in the office, the numbers won't change with a Facebook page, which btw, was an idea stolen from the other HPP forum! thanks God I did not invest a nanosecond on it, because this has to be solved by the homeowners themselves. Hoping that one single person would, by the grace vested from God, bring a magic solution out of her/his hat, is the hope of lazy coward and cheap fools.the horse is dead my friends, no matter how we beat him jt won't come back to life.with the next road fee increases the house of cards will continue it's slow road to hell. The problem is that HPPP is broke, plain and simple.

This is an inaccurate assessment. Anyone attending a meeting or two, would clearly see this person is no self promoter. Leslie Blyth and the rest of the new board (4 others) are working together to bring transparency into HPP business. We have sev honest bylaw following board reps who respect their position on the board and understand that they represent the membership. They have been respectful towards members, and are listening to their voices. Their goal is to follow our bylaws, policies, county and state regulations and its evident by their actions thus far at board mtgs that it isn't just talk.

The opponents to this notion called transparency are pushing back bc hard evidence has exposed that the past 3 majority boards have broken bylaws, policies, as well as county and state regulations = Association liability. There are 4 reps from those past boards sitting on the board currently.

The new reps know that lot owners are upset at the lack of scheduled road maint and road safety over the past few yrs. Leslie Blyth soliciting members for their road info is just one aspect of hearing and listening to members' needs and the new reps wanting to get things back on track.

It was no easy task but transparency is prevailing as the FC is finally back up and running after 1 1/2 + yrs of past board obstruction, and this was possible bc the new reps know the FC is the Association's checks and balances.

mermaid, were you at the Finance Committee meeting last night? I haven't spoken yet with one of my normal sources of information. If you were there, could you give us a synopsis? Hopefully, I will get some additional information.

lay off the pomposity glorious twitt once and for all, will you.? Who the hell are you to judge the quality of one's comments? You have been stolling the quality of the bylaws like someone vested you with the Keeper of the Park title. People like you are nothing but big mouths that do practically nothing to resolve important issues. Take a look at Hicops, those folks have the testes to actually fight for a real change, while you pretend. Read the news! even they have started a lawsuit to deal with the helicopter noise. What do you do besides harping loyalty to some useless bylaws and an absurd organization that has taken our money and destroyed our roads
I really wish you identify yourself at a board meeting so that can tell you to your face what I think of you and the few idiots like you that continue to mantain the HPP fraud factory. In the meantime look for another fee increases dear sheep, and more road erosion

JD, your assessment of Mermaid's efforts and contribution couldn't be farther from the truth.

It's obvious you are ill informed if you think she is the problem .

Mermaid has consistently tried to make things better using the means currently available through the HPPOA organizational structure. Although I may think those means are flawed and in need of replacement, I will not fault her efforts or intentions. If and when JD has done as much as Mermaid to try to improve things, I might pay some attention to him. Meanwhile, at least someone is trying to do something positive, and it's not JD.

As a 40 year resident I don't mind having a somewhat potholed road it slows drivers down, just recently they laid a corse of gravel down my road and now cars go faster making more dust.

My real concern is the main paved roads into HPP, the yellow and white lines are so faded out that when it becomes night time and its raining, it is so hard to see the road when cars come over the many crest and one needs to glance away and look to the side using the white line as a guide as headlights become brighter for a moment from the rises in the road...the white lines are faded out and covered with grass in many places, this is very dangerous, Maku'u Dr is real bad because of its "roller coster" dips and crest, I get chicken skin when coming home after dark, I've mentioned this to the HPP office.

Aloha Punarain. Nice handle.

I agree that night driving on our main drags is dangerous and no longer drive here at night for just the reasons you mentioned.

I too have lived in HPP for nearly 40 years, and have never seen the main drags in such bad shape.

A past BOD, (consisting of some of the present BOD Members who always manage to find a way to remain on the BOD where they can do the most damage) saw fit to disband the Road Traffic Safety Committee as it was easier than listening and acting on the Committe's recommendations. Road striping and reflectors were a constant recommendation of the RTSC. Mermaid was a dedicated member of that Committee for years until disbandment.

Mahalo Mermaid.

This is what I have learned about a couple of topics at the finance committee meeting Tuesday evening. The treasurer, board director (appointed by the board) and a FC member all voted to raise the road maintenance fee 10% again for Jan. 2018. The other 4 members of the committee voted against it, resulting in the motion to fail. If the board goes ahead and ignores the committee's advise to the board, just like last year, then the road fees will be raised from $313.50 to $344.85. I heard that the reason the treasurer wants to raise the fees is to "pay off the bond in 5 years". He wants to raise the fees 10% a year for 5 years. If he gets his wish, and presumably with 4 others on the board, that would be $504.89 a year.
There was also discussion on 3 refinancing proposals for the bond. I heard that any of them would result in significant savings for the Association, which begs the question "Why do we need higher and higher road fees? Aren't some on the board at all concerned about what many in the Park will think and possibly do if they keep having to pay more money and get nothing or barely anything for it? Oh that's right, we're getting chip seal instead of maintenance, what a bargain, especially when we will have to pay for the mitigation of the chip seal failures.

Speaking of chip seal, there was discussion about that contract and a grass mowing contract costing the Association over $3000 a month for just the 4 main roads. I heard last year that the Association got into that contract because our road crew employees were too busy with chip seal to mow our roads like they used to do.

I wasn't able to find out what resulted in the contract discussions, so hopefully some one who was there can enlighten us since it is a public meeting, nothing secret.
