Hawaiian Telcom DSL Problems ?
#21
I contacted Hawaiian Telcom and they said they would test my line and call me back.

As far as max data rates, the farthest customers from the hub will only get 800-1300 Kbps.

I would assume in their parlance a hub is not
a central office. As you can get faster DSL
speeds through the CO. I sort of figured the
folks going through a hub (Remote terminal)
would be capped.

It is 10:20AM HST and it appears the new bandwidth has not
been cutover yet. Thus I'm still getting poor speeds.

Things are still not working for me. It is about what is was yesterday. I wonder if location has that much to do with it? I'm in HPP.

Evidently I found out the new bandwidth has not been turned on yet. Also SprintLink has been
doing modifications to their network. But last
I checked this morning, the speeds were still really poor.

I really don't think so. I've been getting abysmal speeds to in Kona Sad

I'm noticing really poor download speeds today. I wonder if there was a good reason that Verizon dumped this onto Hawaiian Tel. And I think pigs will fly before anyone sees any compensation.

I tested the download speed:

Your download speed: 156 kbps or 19.5 KB/sec.
That is 79.1% worse than an average user on hawaiiantel.net

What I found out today is the new bandwidth may not be turned on until late next week. Since that is the case, Hawaiian Tel is working with Sprint to see if its something besides a congestion issue.

The latency is utterly horrible.Hence the slow speeds.
