Santa's Workshop Fundraiser is OVER. MAHALO!
#51
I want to thank all those Punawebbers who contributed to Pahoa Elementarty School's Santa's Workshop. $3,000.00 worth of aloha for the keiki will be transferred over this evening.

Good Job!

I do hope one or more of you can attend the workshop this December and report back to us all.....

ALOHA

Thank you, Obie. As ever, there's a very special part of you that gives to those with needs no matter what others might think. We might not always agree on the minutia of life here, but it's clear you know what the priority is; our future. Thank you again.

Doing a little bit of trolling yourself Tomk? What does this have to do with Rob's fundraiser? Now I see where this club of entitlement and free passes to bully is hatched. There are a lot of fundraisers that are ongoing and pop up around the holidays. I'm sure there are many punawebbers who donate to various other charities. Many of us don't have the pocket book to donate to all charities. There's one in HPP through the food pantry to help HPP children this Christmas. Helping those in need isn't about tooting horns or entitlements.

Rob, glad you had a successful fundraiser for the Pahoa Elementary school children.

C'mon folks.
Can't we skip the tricks, and treat these Christmas donations in the spirit of the season with which they're offered?

Much better way of saying it, HotPE. My donation dollars have gone elsewhere, but $3000 is pretty impressive, and Obie was very very generous.

How does it compare to other years, Rob?

Couldn't agree more w/this sentiment. The focus shouldn't be on the giver, but on the recipients. My donation dollars have also gone elsewhere. Rob, congratulations in raising funds for Pahoa Elem.

Growing up in the 50's, Christmas was a very special time for me and my sister. On Christmas Eve my parents would wait until we had gone to bed and then they would stay up all night putting up the tree and setting up my toy train.
They showered us with gifts every year and at this time they didn't even own a car.
My father passed away 6 years ago and my mother 2 years ago.The money I donate is from the money they had saved over the years.Just passing on the joy of Christmas that was bestowed on me.

Growing up in the 50's

Thanks for your Christmas memories Obie. I have equally fond recollections of those days.

Up until I was 8 years old I lived in an old farmhouse, the kitchen had been the original log cabin from the first homesteaders on the land. Our extended farm family was comprised of my parents, grandparents and an uncle. On Christmas Eve they all pitched in to create a fairly extravagant Christmas event for my sisters and I. My uncle climbed up on the snowy roof to ring a set of jingle bells removed from an old horse drawn sleigh while he stomped his feet to sound like reindeer. Parents and grandparents set up the tree, the Lionel train under the tree, and took a sip from the glass of milk and a bite of the cookie we left for Santa.

Good times.

IMO elevating one donor over the others isn't in the spirit of what it was intended for either. I see there were plenty of others, named and anonymous, who donated and were given recognition in gratitude. Some wished no recognition at all and some don't have as much to give monetarily but still sacrifice to help others.
