Door to door salesman

Puna would have to be the true bottom of the barrel for door to door zip codes. I would be immediately suspicious.
Assume the best and ask questions.

This thread is so funny, everyone all mad about nothing.

Maybe I can help. I've been taken in. A very pushy man driving a van drove into my driveway. Let me see if I can remember, the van was very colorful, lots of colors, I didn't really look to see if there was a design, or words on the van, but it was was all painted, lots of red. Smaller van. I'm not a car person. The man was white (can I say that?) and he smelled like cigarettes. A bigger guy. Super pushy. Tatoos. Maybe in his 50s or so? And that cigarette smoke, awful. He managed to convince me to buy some incredibly overpriced meat and chicken. I managed to get the price down a bit - still I was way, way overchargd. The chicken was just tasteless but the meat was downright disgusting. Soft, rotten tasting, absolutely horrible. A classic BBQ cut too, not cheap in Safeway. But I paid much more than Safeway. I am still sickened by the memory of the taste. Huge waste of money.

So my warning is, if you like good meat and don't want to feel sick after a meal NEVER EVER buy from these crooks. I can't imagine where they get such awful meat. I think the company is based in Oahu. I tried to describe the man who came here the best I could. I'd like to see him again to give him back the rest of his rotten so called flash frozen meat mush still in my freezer. UGGGG.

Peddlers need a peddlers permit from county and state .
Always ask to see their permits and G.E.Tax license number .
A no trespasser and no peddlers sign is very helpful .
Every neighbor here on our rd in H.A. has cameras - signage and dogs . Keep the gate locked and shut even when home .

OR

Explain to them you are broke and have not eaten in one - two or 3 days and can they spare 50 $ or 100 $ so you can buy some food and gasoline to get to the store and back. Soon word will get out not to stop at your place.
In addition call the police and report trespassers and best descriptions of vehicles and plate numbers and let law enforcement know you feel threatened or burglary in progress .
Call the news media and take photos .
If enough people do this - the peddlers will no longer be an issue.

"I'm surprised they haven't made it to your area yet TomK, maybe you were out. Then again, to go door-to-door in HPP would take quite a while."

Nothing here yet, although I do tend to be out of the house a lot. No reports from neighbors either. The only people I've had peddling stuff in recent memory were Jehovah's witnesses who once woke me up knocking and then shouting in my yard to see if I was in the house. I'd worked that night and was sleeping, and somehow they managed to miss the Darwin symbol on my front door. I gave them a piece of my mind via an upstairs window and have never seen them again. However, there have been one or two times since then I've returned home to find one of their pamphlets stuck in the door - right next to the Darwin symbol.

I think I might try and find a way to hang one of those pamphlets in a noose and leave it hanging on a tree by my driveway.

Best way to stop Jehovas’ Witnesses is to say you already go to a church (don’t need to say which one). They will leave you alone since they will think you don’t need to be “converted”.

“I think I might try and find a way to hang one of those pamphlets in a noose and leave it hanging on a tree by my driveway.”
I’d be careful doing that...

We sued the Jehovas Witnesses Church and won .
They no longer come down our driveway or trespass .
This was in the 1980s .

Another family friend in O.L.E. informed the top leadership of this church that their property was a nudist only property and that if they needed to preach or convert - they could only do so naked .

In both instances no longer bothered by any church group preaching or converting .

I kinda like the JWs, at least you know where you stand with them - they take the bible literally! Still kooky though.
The last visit I got from them was in Feb 2011. I remember it well because the guy asked me if I had noticed an increase in earthquakes, which meant the end the was nigh. I said there was no such increase. Two weeks later that big one happened off Japan, I thought he'd be back to gloat about that but he never did. They must've crossed me off the list.

The Meat guys tried to hit me up too. I told them I was a vegetarian.
The J-witnesses try too but I just come out wearing nothing but shorts and they look at me all judgmental. I tell them that I know Jesus personally and he told me not to trust you.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Apologies for delayed reply.

I would opine Paul does not want to describe these people (who may read this) and vis-a-vis know HE is the one warning others.

If that's not it, then I join the others here who are confounded by the lack of logic in NOT describing them so they are identified and see no other reason to be so unreasonably coy.

It's of no help to neighbors, police or even the FBI to be so smugly evasive.
