OK, a bit of hyperbole, but the video is cool. Thunderstorms, bolides, sprites, re-entering space debris and missile launches, all captured by cameras at Gemini on Mauna Kea.

I googled “mesospheric gravity waves”.

As for the mesosphere, it's simply a layer in the atmosphere just above the stratosphere. What you see in the video are OH ions that are excited by the waves as they pass through and emit light as they try and relax back into their normal state, usually in the red part of the optical spectrum and near infrared. They can be quite a pain for astronomers working at those wavelengths as the brightness of the sky keeps changing.
