Not sure why they don't serve rice with their entrees.

They don't serve rice? Or is it extra charge?

I wish them the best... But... Mauka Lucy's please. Or a freakin sports bar with cheap wings and ribs. How do we not have that?

Mauka Lucy's please.

I asked Lucy about this; her answer was "the landlord is charging mainland corporate rent, no way we could afford to open there".

Bring back Charlies type gathering space - free billiards every Wednesday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm - full size table.

I don't know what their rent is, but I will assume that it's crippling. To mitigate the high cost of labor the owners and family have probably never had a day off since opening. I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did.

It's been a few decades since I worked in the restaurant business, but historically they can only make money on either volume or liquor sales even with location, location, location. Opening up a bland Asian restaurant in a market drowning in bland Asian restaurants probably doesn't help...

I still miss Mama Lanis’s, the original occupant. Good Mexican food and great bar. They were always packed. The 80’s were a lot more fun in Kea’au.
