Aaron, it is not necessary to do that "email me for the link" thing here. You can post your link without any problem from punaweb (except for really bad taste stuff).

Hi everyone. My name is Glenn Wolf. My wife Laura and I moved here in November 2005, after visiting a few times over the last 3 years. Even though I got bit by one of the really nasty blue poisonous centipedes the first night I officially "lived" here (it took over a month to heal!), I am not dissuaded. I LOVE it here. I love the diversity of climates, the volcano, the "rural" aspect of Puna in general, the virgin-clean air, the laid-back lifestyle. I'm originally from Seattle, my wife is from the Sacramento area, where we both lived for the 5 years before we moved here to Hawaiian Shores. John Dirgo was an excellent realtor, the best we have ever worked with, and helped us find exactly what we wanted. My wife is working on a book and doing some counseling work. I still work full-time for an engineering company in Sacramento, CA doing computer consulting work remotely for clients all over the U.S., primarily in the water and wastewater industry, but also City / County / State governments.
I am also starting my business here ( Wolf Computer Consulting), although it is a slow and steady process of making the right contacts. For anyone who is interested, my specialties are GIS (Geographic Information Systems - computerized mapping); SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition - i.e., water control systems); CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems); Oracle and SQL Server database administration, architecture, and design; IT Security, Vulnerability Assessments, and Penetration Testing; programming (Visual Basic, C++, HTML, etc.) and of course general system administration (most flavors of Windows and UNIX), network administration; database integration.
We love walking around the neighborhood, dancing our butts off at Ecstatic Dance at Kalani on Sunday mornings, seeing the movies everyone on the mainland saw 2 months ago, and going to the Maku`u farmer's market. I am also opening for the Hilo band Aethyrus at Kope Kope Espresso Cafe Friday, August 25th, at 7pm. See you there! I'm Lee and my partner is MArj. Our purchase of a lot in HPP just became final. We have 3-5 years to retirement and so are now trying to do all those things to get our lives in order. We have lived in Wisconsin most of our lives and appreciate the climate of Hawaii. We both work in healthcare and are very interested in the discussions on this forum. A big Mahalo to everyone for their frankness and opinions. You've all been extremely helpful to us in our decision making. Our hobbies are art and theater and we expect to pursue those more on the BI. Maybe even a little healthcare.

Hawaiian remedy for centipede bites: Slice some papaya and put on the bite. Repeat until sting stops and swellign goes down.

Do you really want to know where I "found" the centipede? My wife and I were sleeping on a futon mattress on the floor in our bedroom, since we were waiting for our shipping containers to arrive. I woke up at 3am with a dull pounding pain in my left shoulder, much like you get after a tetanus shot! After starting to feel a little dizzy and hot, I got up and went to the bathroom, and in the mirror I saw four rather large holes with blood and puss oozing out of them! I went back to the bedroom and tore the bed apart, waking up Laura telling her there was a centipede in the bed, and she initially thought I was sleepwalking crazy. We didn't find it then but found a dead blue centipede a few days later in the closet, so I think I must have injured it by rolling over on it or swatting at it in my sleep. I think it was getting me back for killing a big red one the day before, outside. Anyway, that was at the end of November, and we really haven't seen many since December or so. Anyway, the bite was bad (I think I was bit multiple times), and even after a few weeks it looked like it was starting to get worse and infected. I just kept spraying it with bactine, and eventually it healed up fine. I hate da buggahs!

I've explored this forum for a couple of weeks now and I'd like to introduce myself.
I'm Brian, and my wife Mary and I live in Lynnwood, Washington, just north of Seattle. We've purchased a parcel in the Discovery Harbour subdivision and are planning on moving over in about two years. Our plan is to move over and rent somewhere for a few months while we get our bearings and contacts for construction. We're both avid gardeners and are looking forward to melding into the island culture.
I'm a Fisheries Biologist and have studied (and eaten) salmon for about 25 years. My userid is "Fishboy" for what should be apparent reasons.
I've been looking here and there for information on building my home, and am SO glad I found PunaWeb and the wonderful people here. What a terrific resource and support group for those of us who have questions.....on any subject.
