I think the whole voting system is f***ed.
Of course this applies to us but is the same for the whole nation.
If I want to pick someone from "this" party for this position and someone from "that" party for another, I'm not allowed to.
I have to pick one freakin' party and stick with it the whole way through. Incredibly stupid and corrupt system. I want to pick individuals based on how competent I think they are as a person. Not stupid democrats or republicans bs.

I have no idea where you got the idea you have to vote a party slate.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Has anyone mentioned the Oahu rail system yet?
I agree with the concept but oh the implementation! Unbelievable.
Which reminds me of the bridge in Hilo that I keep hearing about. Took longer to build than the Golden Gate? Is that the "singing" bridge?

The primary election is by party, but not the general election. I think the reason is in cases where one party has a strong candidate, voters don't jump party lines in the primary and vote for the weakest opposition candidate.

Perhaps EW means that if you vote Party A then you get a Party A president, a Party A AG, a Party A secretary of state etc.

No, it is the bridge over the Hilo boat harbor.

There's an Ad on the radio, playing currently that says if you pick party A and vote for someone in party B it won' count. Why do we have to pick A or B?
"I have no idea where you got the idea you have to vote a party slate."
Edited to try to clarify ad:
I think it's the same one that talks about voter registration and how, now for the first time, you can register the same day at the place you're supposed to vote.
(maybe I'm just trippin' here but I swear I didn't make it up)

You should ask the radio station. It is not true. Better yet, call the county clerk's office.

Why is it not okay for voters to jump party lines?
Okay, I guess I just never understood
Too much bs.

In AK the primary election used to be completely open.
Then, the Republicans began insisting that primary voting be closed by party lines.
Their reasoning was that people affiliated with other parties, Democrats and Alaska Independents especially, could influence the Republican candidate outcome by crossing party lines nullifying stronger candidates.
My feeling is that the Democrats made the same thing happen here for the same reasons.
As usual, party politics are more important than the good of the people.

Was a Democrat until gun control became a knee jerk, then a Republican until the crazies took over, back to being a nonpartisan again.
This time, I can no longer participate in the primary.
