Geothermal Power, and Puna Geothermal Venture

We've already seen how a small minority can delay and possibly kill the TMT and will not be surprised if something similar now happens with PGV.

May be they should erect TMP,
30 m stature of their stupid idol Pele.

Apologies, was just replying to Kirt. As for PGV, well, I have to admit I'm not optimistic they'll be operational again in the near future. We've already seen how a small minority can delay and possibly kill the TMT and will not be surprised if something similar now happens with PGV. I understand the situations are different, but that small minority have learned how to delay things.

You hit that one out of the park.

Whether it is TMT, lava viewing site, dozing lava off of road, GMO, Roundup etc., there are always "Luddites" objecting.

Sure, they always have their precious "reasons" (read "PRETENSE), e.g. "the rocks are sacred", "you'll piss-off the forest eater or M. Pele", or "your ears will fall off if you eat that cob of GMO corn" or "I demand the right to live in a world (and swim in its streams) absolutely devoid of any traces of Western Civilization or its chemicals", or the every-popular "its for your own good".

Yes, they always have their "reasons", but the real purpose of their objection is to knee-cap progress and, therefore, Western Civilization.

IMHO, these wrench-throwers should be "trampled into goo" without hesitation (philosophically-speaking, of course) by the onward march of progress.

Or, perhaps, the "Forest Eating "god"" that the VP of the Lelani Estates HOA opined in a CD meeting might get peeved by a lava viewing site being built, and end up devouring more forest with his lava (and you thought only Pele wielded lava) in response to the building such a viewing site. Yes, in 2018 a grown-adult is seriously concerned that a forest eater might get pissed-off and eat more forest with his lava if a lava viewing site is built.

Yes, I would be very surprised if it happens that quickly.

2 to 3 years according to Kim. The eruption threats for residents of lower Puna also exist for Geothermal plants, do they not? I don't see how this latest episode will promote further development.

IMHO, it is obvious beyond glaringly, that the very LAST thing that should happen in the ERZ is "further development". That would be akin to the sinking Titanic taking on additional passengers.

Further, IMHO the only rational use of the area is agriculture (or perhaps a penitentiary)!!!!!

Actually, the area is expressly suited for geothermal energy production. One could imagine that the next version of PGV will be built so as to be even more mobile in the event of another lava event.

I agree. My oversight.

"...next version of PGV will be built so as to be even more mobile..."

Besides the pentane and the staff, what part of PGV is mobile now ?

And what else could be mobile?
