Not disputing your statement, and not disputing the anti-lableing positions. However, I still don't understand why the companies DON'T WANT IT ON THEIR LABELS. If these things are really "making the world better, much better" I would think they would be proud to put the announcement into a big starburst on the front of the package like was done in days past. Voluntarily, and purposefully, as an advertising and promotional move. NEW, IMPROVED. NOW MADE WITH GMO CORN AND GLYPHOSATE. I brought this up before, no response. Please tell me why they would rather spend millions to keep it off their labels than boast about how their innovations are improving conditions across the planet.

I overlooked this logical faux pas earlier. Package labeling is about what IS IN THE PACKAGE. It is NOT the place for "boast(ing) about how their innovations are improving conditions across the planet".

The fact that you conflate the two purposes renders the rest of your argument flaccid, as it shows you don't even have a thin understanding of what the issue is about.

there is no connection between editing answers and lacking conviction, but yes, I want to make sure I say exactly what I want to say, so I edit often. I find it very hard to read the editor font.

Yep, you done killed it ! Congratulations.

ETA: Pretty sure now that Open-d's sole intent is to dominate or kill any discussion that threatens or casts doubt on the great God of Progress. After all, Western Civilization must be preserved at all costs ! I've got news for ya Open-d: in the history of the planet, there has never been a civilization that didn't collapse. Ours will be no exception.

I'm out.

Looks like a return to “normal” if this thread is any indication...

Cheers,

I'm out too, but first I want to alert all the anti-GMO, anti-Roundup, anti-progress people to a vast new threat:

https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-45173968

Editing of wheat genes to help it adapt for climate change! Don't they realize that by tinkering with a single gene they have thereby turned the whole crop into the spawn of Satan? Please, you have to enlighten them before they save millions of lives. Don't think this abomination won't make its way to Hawaii eventually.

Happy picketing.

Just wait until “someone” discloses what exactly those inert ingredients are that make up over 50% of roundup. Glyphosate is just the beginning my friends. I’ve been in agriculture for 14 years. I understand this argument more than most do. I am 100% ok with gmo. Without gmo and the continued research on how to grow crops better we die.

However.........those in the know stopped eating Cheerios years ago. The inert ingredients are not good and glyphosate is not good. These ingredients are stored in the plants and soils they are sprayed on by design. Making a plant resistant to death from glyphosate doesn’t negate the fact that it is still in the plant and soil in harmful amounts to humans.

Most of us in agriculture and who are regarded as responsible farmers agree roundup ready crops are a ticking time bomb and were a bad idea from the beginning. The original argument seemed so black and white and childish. Round up on plants that we will eventually consume bad— duh...... no brainer really. So we thought. Years later here we are and it sucks.

The word cancer comes up, great. Glyphosate causes organ failure as well. Of course just in animals, cough cough..... liver kidneys.... and still zero mention or recognition of the INERT ingredients, what they are, what the chemical make up of ingredients are ect ect ect..... 51% worth. We know surfactants are added but that’s all. Just the word surfactant. Most surfactants used in agriculture are not made for consumption.

Some of us understand seeds, seed production and the control of seeds or war on seeds. It became clear this gmo roundup ready bullsht was a power move. All about the Benjamin’s baby. When you understand the seed market, you will understand more about Monsanto. When you understand more about Monsanto, you will understand how roundup comes into OUR picture much further down the road. Think chess if you play.

Monsanto is so much more than roundup. Their insane level of “interest” with seeds for our food production slides right under the radar. Patents on seeds? Huh? Happy research if you choose to do so!

Educate yourselves on this subject. I’ve been reading far too many opinions and not enough facts. When facts are left out, emotions fill their place.

Jahson - you might be surprised by this but I fully support cannabis being grown on the island and am fully aware of its health benefits when used medically. On the other hand, there are known dangers with its use which have been shown in several scientific papers. My point, and what I was trying to find out, was why some people here are so adamantly against glysophate which enables crops to be grown and avoid starvation, which is a benefit but growing and using marijuana which has known serious health issues if used incorrectly or even correctly by prescription, is not a problem.

I don't know enough about glysophate or pot, I'm just curious why different standards are used for both. You can even add alcohol to this. That's known to cause health problems, but should that be banned as well? It didn't work out well in the last century.
