Getting some pretty strong winds right now on a Kaloli Point.

I think for the most part hurricane Lane is pau. I know people might argue this point but its just my opinion based on what I've seen and read. The TV stations and the newspapers are just dramatizing it to the max for whatever reason. The biggest impact is again the east side of the Big Island with major flooding. Period..

The darn thing hardly even moved from when I went to sleep last night at 8:30 till now, 5:30 am.

Opening up my WindyTY app this morning it shows It is super stalled and sending multiple avocado halves our way (over Puna) without a stop in sight.

The windy App shows 95C, that durianfiend was talking of.

Looks like a big mass of moisture without the spin and without the thunder coming at the big island.

Road Closures
A message from COUNTY OF HAWAII

This is a Civil Defense hurricane update for Friday, August 24 at 6:00 in the morning.

The Tropical Storm Warning issued by the Central Pacific Hurricane Center continues for Hawaii County. The windward side of Hawaii Island is currently under a flash flood warning and experiencing conditions of heavy rains and flooding.

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports as of 5:00 am that Hurricane Lane is a category 2 hurricane located approximately 145 miles WSW of Kailua-Kona with sustained winds of 110 mph, moving N at approximately 7 mph. Due to the slowing of the hurricane, dangerous heavy rains and flooding may persist for a period of time on the windward side of the Big Island.

Due to the flash flooding, the following major roads are closed:

Highway 19 – both lanes are closed at mile marker 6
Saddle Road – between mile marker 8 and 11
Highway 270 (Kohala Mountain Road) – mile marker 13
Numerous secondary roads in Hilo, Puna, and Hamakua are closed so stay alert. Multiple other landslides are occurring on Highway 19 and other closures can occur without notice. At this time, Highway 11 is the only way to travel across the island.

The deadliest effects of most of these storms are flooding & landslides.. & we are having both..

According to windy app looking like that mass of moisture is lifting to the north of Hilo and Puna.

Might be a short lull in the rain here at quarter to 7 am.

Two more "avocado halves" off shore to the east looks like they will come into Puna in a guesstimated hour or so.

EW, you might consider expanding your app horizons. If you compared, say windy, dark sky, and ventusky with each other, and then with the LANE spaghetti maps, you’d see there is not much agreement. And disagreement on the stuff coming from the east among the apps.

Oh, and sorry about your rocks, but remember, it’s temporary and they will dry out in time.

Windy is interesting, but it doesn't show everything that's happening. Lane is reported to have sustained high winds, however, windy doesn't show anything above 50 knots. Too much modeling, not enough real time input to base it on I guess.

Well there was a lull from the last time I reported till now. Just as I predicted. According to windy we are back into another of those half avocados again. (yellow and green blobs with red in the center for the pit). This weather predicting stuff seems pretty easy with the windy app. Maybe I'll open my own website and charge.

What am I supposed to see and believe there Frank?
Let me know and I will believe. I know it rains. It stops. It rains some more.

I use the Windy app because it seems to work for me. I have checked out some of those others knieft. And those pond rocks are just fine btw, wet or not. Thanks.
