Fletch back again. I wonder if anyone can steer me in the direction for water catchment systems. I am not familiar with them as i live on oahu. Maybe some articles and possibly who is doing business in the puna area with a good rep. mahalo

Hi Fletch, You could start with using the "search" option in the upper left corner. There has been a fair amount of previous dicussion on the subject. Search for the words catchment, water and/or storage tanks.

You can start by getting a copy of the brochure put out under the auspices of the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, UH Manoa, "Guidelines on Rainwater Catchment Systems for Hawai'i" authored by Patricia Macomber. I have heard that there is a better guide (one person's opinion) on a texas Rainwater Harvesting site, for which I can't find the URL currently. You can check out the YahooGroups Rainwater Harvesting group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rainwaterharvesting/ although it's not very active or helpful.

Also, you can read the threads in these forums. I don't recall what they were called, but Rob's suggestion about using the search is the way to find them.

As for a company, Waterworks in Hilo has been providing systems for a long time. Something I've noticed in catchment discussions is that people are often willing to cut corners to save money. It just doesn't make sense to me to do this with your water. To each their own.

You might also want to talk to Mike at Paradise Pools in HPP, he is in the phone book. He designed our system and came very highly recommended whe I asked. He can explain allot to you in terms that are easy to understand.

I second the recommendation of Mike. He has worked on two tanks for us and is very good to work with.

Yes Mike Greenlaw @ Paradise Pools is good. He does all my catchment drawings for BP applications.

I'm guessing it stands for "Building Permit"
