Hawaii News Now reports that the lawyer of a Mountain View man who allegedly died as a result of an altercation with Big Island police in Hamakua is claiming that the FBI will investigate. Here's the link:

From the article:
Vincent Burton, 57, died on May 20 of broken ribs and multiple organ failures. The Medical Examiner ruled the Mountain View man's death a homicide as a result of an “altercation with police.”
I don't recall seeing any local media coverage of this, but I could easily have missed it. I'm sure the police have their version. Anyone know more details?

From the article:
Breiner (Burton’s attorney)provided a different account of what happened. He said Burton and his wife were driving near Hamakua when they spotted an officer, whom Burton mistakenly thought he went to school with.
A 57 year old man is driving at highway speed, he sees a police officer he thought he went to school with 40 years ago, so pulls over to say hi to his old friend? Plausible? Or an attempt to make it look like Burton initiated the encounter with nothing but good intentions, good vibes brah, and the cops turned on him? For saying hello?
On Tuesday night, 9/18/2018 Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono had another message for the Republican senators on the Judiciary Committee “Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing.” She added in another related comment, “Bull$hit.”

Lawyers are paid big money to weave tales to reinforce their clients' position. That's why I put a question mark in the thread title. If the FBI is indeed investigating, we can only hope that they get to the truth.

I didn't see any mention of the deceased being armed with a gun or any other weapon. Police won't comment? So, we have 3-4 murderous thugs beating a security guard to death at the Kona Seaside Hotel. And here, a cop beats an unarmed citizen to death. Lets see how these cases develop.

Ive posted this link many times before in various threads but here is the annual misconduct report for HPD.http://www.hawaiipolice.com/about-us/annual-misconduct-report 2017 shows mostly liars.. but earlier years shows a better picture. just go back about 5 years you'll get the idea. considering how many people are employed by HPD county wide which can be found here...http://www.hawaiipolice.com/about-us/annual-reports, i am somewhat impressed by the integrity of the dept.( I had to spit take on that last bit of garbage sentence...)

A Federal investigation is now official, according to Hawaii News Now, with Officer Luke Watkins having received a "target letter" from the U.S. Attorney's Office. The deceased's family attorney says the investigation may be targeting other officers as well. Here's the link:
