NEED AN ELECTRICIAN!!
#1
I've been hearing about how building has slowed down, and there are more contractors available now, but I've been trying to get an electrician for the house I'm working on for months now with no luck. Well, I did get one bid a while back for about $10,000(this is for a 1000 sq ft house). I would really not like to see the owner forced into paying that much for her electrical, but I haven't been able to get anyone else to come look at the job. If anyone out there is an electrician, or knows one that might have some time to take a look at my job I would greatly appreciate it. I'm even willing to do the grunt work, but I need someone to pull the elec. permit and do the important stuff.

Jim, if building has slowed down, and that's a big if, electricians will be among the last trades to slack off since they come nearer the end of the construction process than other trades. Foundation finishers and framers would be the first to slack off.

Building permits, as reported elsewhere on this forum, are down just about 8 or 9% from last years levels, but the stats quoted don't differentiate full new homes from remodels. Some real estate pros are of the opinion that speculative builders are being replaced by owner builders who are putting homes on land already purchased.

In any case, the electricians still seem to be able to charge whatever outrageous rates the market will bear. Good luck!

Please remember when getting a bid that seems high that the cost of the copper and wire has gone up astronomically!

Doesnt mean you arent being overcharged but if you find an good electrician and you are sending a container over, check with them and see if you can order their supplies and put it in your container. Might save some money...
