i've recently fallen in love with the Hawai'ian classic, the loco moco! its filling, but yet the large amount of rice its served with makes my stomach feel just fine. Seems like just about every non-pizza restaurant in Hawai'i serves one too, lol, Shaka's here in Ka'u has a great loco moco, though I think Zippy's moco in Hilo was a bit better.

Cafe 100 is the "Original Home " of the classic Loco Moco .
5 ounces of short grain brown rice - 1 egg scramble - one 4 ounce Big Island grain fed beef patty and extra gravy w/ free water .
Used to be back in the 1970s only white rice and price was 59 cents w/tax.
Fast forward to 2018 and price is closer to $3.95 4.5 ounces rice and smaller beef patty but still Big Island eggs and beef.
They also offer a card they stamp so after you buy x number of Loco Moco's you get one free.
We take the grand kids there once a month. That card fills up fast.

NOT Ken's. Their burger patty is inevitably burnt outside and raw inside.
Never understood the allure of kens .. have been drawgged along dozens of times. Maybe it was good in the past .. but weren't we all.
Dare ur party to walk across the street one day.

"Ken's" is disgusting.
They are the kind of place that reaches for cheap canned veggies whenever they can instead of buying fresh and local.
Also I never understood this: they also are guilty of using a powdered egg replacement instead of an actual egg. Don't know if they do this for their loco-moco because obviously I don't eat there after experiencing what they have to offer.
Mimosa: Unreal that Cafe100 uses brown rice, (healthy) and reach for local beef and eggs. Props to them if that is true!
Even though I don't eat there, I would try one once in awhile. Maybe had one 15 years ago or more. Can't remember the last time.
