They were primitive barbarians before we showed up
And yet, if given the choice of one or the other, primitive barbarians would be preferable over an arrogant delusional blowhard.

Perhaps plant-based meat is the answer for Hawaii if we could get them to establish a processing plant here.

Isn't waste from cows significantly less problematic than human waste?
Human waste contains human pathogens, which are more likely to infect humans than other types of waste. The transfer of disease from cow to human is less likely, although cattle manure can carry E. coli and other bacteria. I lived on a farm growing up. My grandfather, uncle, and father took the manure spreader out to the alfalfa fields regularly. It’s a wagon that pushed manure to the back where it was forced through spinning blades, which scattered it somewhat evenly across the field. That $hit could fly, but it went in the opposite direction of the tractor driver. I doubt they ever became sick from it, but it was spread thinly, and evenly across our fields, not saturated, and not at a density where it would get into the water table and then our water well. quote:I don't understand this "taking Hawaii from Hawaiians." As I wrote in a thread under Politics, I'm old enough to remember that most Hawaiians (maybe about 6% opposed) REJOICED when Hawaii became a state during a REPUBLICAN administration. I don't remember any significant protests, only CELEBRATION. If the quoted author is writing about the overthrow of the monarchy, it seems most Hawaiians got over that, or they would have not petitioned for statehood but for sovereignty. If he is referring to post-statehood policies, that could, if one agrees, be termed "exploitation" rather that "taking."

quote:Oh, I see the truth just fine. Far better than most. I don't delude myself into ascribing good intentions to people whose only interest is to control others, to reduce their freedom, to make their lives LESS rewarding, LESS meaningful, LESS prosperous. It see it all, as I understand what they are, and what they aren't, and they NEVER are what they say they are, what they pretend to be. It's been the same throughout human history, the Masters and their Chattel. It's no different now, or in Hawaii, or Puna. Speaking Truth to Lies / Facts to Ignorance

you can't handle the truth and have to resort to infantile name calling.
I see the truth... Far better than most. I don't delude myself Would you remind me then, who was it that resorted to calling the Hawaiian people: primitive barbarians before we showed up?
