Both threads of the subject matter above have been locked as they were related to the lava emergency which no longer exists.

However this morning reminded me of the eruption time as I woke up to that familiar rotten egg smell here in Hawaiian Acres. Winds have obviously shifted and are coming up from the south.

In addition there is that booming sound we heard so much of during eruption time too. Fortunately not the mortar sound of the lava bombs but that thunder that seemed to live above Leilani and puu #8.

If it's something you were trying to forget, I apologize. I realize the eruption event hit some a lot harder than it did others.

Coming home this afternoon, 2pm, turning onto South Glenwood, I noticed Pu'U O'O was letting off steam. First time I have witnessed this in 2-3 months. Helicopter traffic in Lower Fern Forest has "sky"rocketed, pun intended! Something going on?

I figured the uptick in heli traffic in upper puna was due to the holidaze.

EW - no worries. I was being sincere. Life goes on. (thankfully no lives were lost)
